Broward; Donald Starkey collaborate on 'Columbus 146' megayacht design
This all-aluminum design is a result in collaboration between Broward Shipyard and Donald Starkey Designs. The 44.5-meter megayacht is a contemporary design and features a semi-displacement hull. Speeds are expected to be in the region of above 14 knots by use of a pair of CAT C32 ACERT marine engines.
The range can be expected to be just over 3,000 nautical miles at an economical speed. Top engine output is estimated to be just under 2,600 horse power, that's near 1,300 horse power per engine. In essence the design is an expedition superyacht with aim of providing relaxing entertainment in comfort and still the ability to visit secluded coves. Having that in mind, the draft of the yacht is minimal and a respectably wide beam of 9.15-meters aids in the comfort.

Oyster Marine offers 125' sloop with flybridge
Flybridge sailing yachts are a relatively new concept and, until the introduction of the flybridge version of the Oyster 125 by Dubois, were to be found only on 48m (160 ft) yachts and above.
The Dubois design office already has a number of flybridge yachts on the water, including "Tiara" at 54.3m (178ft) and "Kokomo" at 51.7m (169ft). With this experience, the Dubois team has been able to finesse the design of the Oyster 125 to capture all the benefits of this concept and match them within a well-balanced, good-looking profile. This flybridge uses the same superstructure as the Raised Saloon but also offers an upper flybridge with twin helms, lounge, wet bar and sunbathing area.
At 155,000 kilos (155 tonnes) lightship displacement, the Oyster 125 by Dubois is a very substantial superyacht, offering a stunning performance in absolute comfort...
Ocea completes and delivers 47M "Elisabet" megayacht
French builder Ocea recently completed the 47-meter megayacht "Elisabet". She is also known as the Ocea 155 Commuter but she is really a luxury pad designed for extended cruising in more remote areas of the world. Elisabet bears a reinforced hull built to operate in Ice conditions. Her design is by Naval Architects Joubert-Nivelt.
Special features onboard Elisabet include a helipad on the aft bridge/upper deck, large saloon and gymnasium. Her relatively straight bow slices through the water with ease and grey coloured hull is easy on the eyes. White superstructure keeps the paint tradition. The semi-shallow draught allows her, even at 47-meters LOA to traverse nearer-shore depths.
Elisabet is the largest 'Commuter' megayacht that Ocea have built to date and now that she is completed, she is sure to turn heads where ever she goes...
Tecnomar starts construction of 40M Impero megayacht
Italian luxury yacht builder Tecnomar recently announced the commencement of construction to the first hull of the 40-meter Impero megayacht line. The signal was given when the keel of the new vessel was laid in a ceremony with the owner in attendance. As is the tradition in the maritime industry, a special 'good-luck' coin was placed in the keel to bring forth blessing and fortune in construction and the hope of good sailing for the vessel.
The ceremony took place at Tecnomar's shipyard on the 26th of October according to the yard's website. Her construction will be in aluminum and built to a design by Luca Dini. She is destined to be noted under RINA's Green Plus certification, a step forward in best environmental practices. An engine package of two 1,920 horse power MTU 16V 2000 M94s are expected to power her to a top speed of 19-knots with cruising at 17...
Columbus 181 extended to 200'
The Columbus Yachts 181 megayacht has now been extended significantly to 60-meters. She has gone to 200-feet long from 181-feet initially. The vessel is currently under construction at the yard in Naples and now rebranded as the Columbus 200' Classic.
Accommodations onboard the new Columbus 200' Classic will be for fourteen in seven staterooms. One master stateroom and six staterooms for guests. The guest accommodation will be spread out in a VIP-type stateroom located on the upper deck, two double and twins with pullman berths situated on the lower deck...
Nedship presents 650 'Quadro' megayacht
The Nedship Group now have presented the Nedship 650 'Quadro' megayacht design. The 'new design' was fleshed out by the in-house designers at Nedship as well as the inputs from various yacht owners and crews.
Either carbon reinforced Glass-Epoxy composite or full Carbon-Epoxy Composite (for if the vessel is all out performance). Of course this will keep the weight of the yacht to a minimum compared to if other materials were utilized in the construction. This enables the vessel to be as efficient as can be under the weight conditions with suitable engine package.
For the new Nedship 650 Quadro it is envisioned that twin 1920 MTU engines connected to traditional shaft and propellers would provide a top speed of 21-knots. However, the alternative package would see her using triple 2,600 HP MTU engines connected to waterjets (KaMeWa) for a top speed in the region of 38-knots and above...
Heesen Yachts sign contract for 50-meter FDHF Explorer superyacht
Dutch superyacht builder Heesen Yachts recently secured contract for a 50-meter all-aluminum Explorer type yacht based on the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) concept.
Naval Architects Van Oossanen and Associates have worked on the FDHF concept and this very concept has made its way onto the hull of the new Heesen 50-meter Explorer. The design of the hull is low-resistence in nature and really allows the vessel to slip through the water alot easier than other wise.
Imagine only twin 1,000 Kw MTU engines are needed to drive this vessel to a top speed of 18.5-knots. As 'little' as 45,000 LT of fuel can run this vessel past Atlantic Ocean crossing range making her lighter and also more efficient at utilizing the same fuel.
In construction she will be known as YN 16750 and have exterior design Omega Architects...
Alloy Yachts 56.40-meter "Mondango" ketch
New Zealand motor and sail luxury yacht builder Alloy Yachts have been chosen once again to construct the successor to the current 51.70-meter "Mondango" (built by Alloy Yachts in 2008). The successor will be a few meters larger at 56.40-meters LOA.
The owners of the current Mondango are going again with the same successful design team that worked on the above mentioned super sailing yacht. That design team includes Reymond Langton to fashion and design the interior and naval architecture is by Dubois Naval Architects.
It is easy to assume that with a larger platform that there will be more space to utilize. Some new features will make way onboard the successor Mondango such as two large tenders to be stored belowdecks in the foredeck. The jacuzzi will move from the bow to the stern on the new yacht and be larger...
OceAnco 85.75-meter 'Waterfall' Superyacht by Moore Yacht Design
Moore Yacht Design and Oceanco have collaborated on an innovative design for an 85.75m motor yacht for which preliminary engineering studies are already under way. One of the primary design objectives was to create a yacht with exceptional exterior styling— an original-looking yacht that makes a statement in any harbour. I see the resultant exterior form as analogous to an athlete—muscular, powerful, yet stream-lined.
The simple sculptural faceted surfaces come together to form crisp lines giving definition and visually fluid dynamic movement in the surfaces making the yacht look as if it is moving even when standing still. The simple, non-fussy nature of the design gives the yacht a clean, modern profile that I believe displays a freshness yet timeless appeal...
"Yacht Express" Crosses Atlantic with Over a Quarter of a Billion Dollars in Luxury Yachts
Due to its sheer size, the 686-foot (209-meter) "Yacht Express" demands an audience, but when the flagship of Dockwise Yacht Transport’s (DYT) fleet of semi-submersible ships pulled into Ft. Lauderdale October 24 with a record breaking cargo of yachts valued collectively at $270,341,000, it was nothing short of a show stopper. The signature gray and orange super ship claimed its berth at Port Everglades and began an hours-long ballasting process that allowed sea water to flood its dock bay and 19 state-of-the-art luxury yachts to safely motor out the back and on to new adventures.
The largest of the vessels was the 190’ (57.91 meter) super yacht "Mi Sueno", which loaded on Yacht Express in Genoa, Italy on October 6...

Odyssey Yacht Design is set to launch their new design for the 'Apollo 100' megayacht at the 52nd edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) -Oct 27-31, 2011-.
The new yacht design is touted as being semi-custom luxury vessel with the feature of creating the most space for a yacht her size. The Apollo 100 is sleek and fast looking while catering to her guests needs. She is large enough for a small party crowd or cosy enough for the secluded. Accommodation onboard is envisioned to be in five staterooms, that is, one Master Stateroom and four other guest cabins. For more on the sleek Apollo 100, view her at the FLIBS...
Buizen Pilot House 52-foot sloop nearing completion
The 52 was designed and developed by the same design team for the 60 being Anthony Starr Design Group for the superstructure and interior and Peter Lowe Design for the hull naval architecture, sail plan and performance specifications.
The 52's design started with a clean sheet of paper, although it would be fair to say she takes her design and performance clues from the 60. In summary, the 52 is more a distilled version of the 60 rather than an upscaled version of the 48. The 52's midship beam is 300mm wider than the 48, but it's the wider beam sweeping aft and the increase in topsides (hull) height of 250mm which when combined with the extra length, create an internal volume allowing incredibly generous living spaces...
Northern Marine signs contract for 85' expedition "Blood Baron"
Northern Marine shipyard has secured the signing of contract for an 85-foot long expedition type luxury yacht. The new build yacht has a highly stylized exterior design making her appear very modern, edgy and sophisticated. The design is a collaboration between Adriel Design and the shipyard themselves (Northern Marine).
Despite her 'small' size and pocket yacht status she will be an efficient and long-range cruiser utilizing fuel to its maximum potential. For now her final name is "Blood Baron" and she is going to be built under hull number 8501.
With hint at the yacht's name, she will have a...blood red hull colour. Blood Baron is slated to feature accommodation for eight guests in four guest cabins. Blood Baron is expected to be launched in 2013 according to schedule...
Alia Yachts completes 82LK "Aiyana" sloop
"Aiyana" was the first hull in the 82LK model from Alia yachts in Turkey. This particular launch and delivery happened last year without much fanfare but none-the-less it would be appropriate to mark its existence.
Her design was done by Warwick Yacht Design and she comes with a length of 24.68-meters. Her beam is just under 6.00-meters (5.96-meters) and having a variable draft thanks to a lifting keel system. Minimum draft is around 2.28-meters with the keel up and near 4.10-meters with it extended.
The slim silhouette of the hydraulically controlled lift keel Aiyana conceals a surprisingly generous interior space that compares favorably to yachts of larger sizes. Three cabins provide comfortable accommodation for 6, with an additional convertible cabin for extra guests or crew members. The elevated lounge commands a spectacular 360-degree view even from a seated position...
Cheoy Lee delivers 'Bravo 84' motoryacht
At the time she was the third delivery by Cheoy Lee for 2011. The 84-foot luxury yacht is based on the well received Bravo 78 model that was introduced in 2008.
Onboard, guests are accommodated in three full-beam staterooms. That is, sleeping room for six deserving guests in two guest rooms and a master stateroom. Interior design was done by Sylvia Bolton while the exterior was Mike Burvenichs' work.
The 'Bravo 84' as the model is known as was built under yard number 5017. Power onboard for her propulsion is provided by a pair of CAT C-32 diesels. The composite vessel was shipped to the United States where she was delivered...
Horizon launches E88 "Mineral Water" megayacht
Horizon has just launched the fourth Horizon E88 motoryacht “Mineral Water,” which successfully completed her sea trials on October 13th in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with new owner and his family present. Powered by twin MTU 1920HP engines, Mineral Water ran smoothly and reached a speed of 23 knots under fully loaded conditions.
Mineral Water was built with a few custom features as requested by the owners for their intended cruising locales. Horizon created an optimally designed shaft system and used lightweight materials to attain the lowest possible draft for the yacht. Additionally, in order for Mineral Water to meet height restrictions for cruising under bridges, Horizon built the radar arch with a foldable feature that lowers the overall yacht height...
Wally 26-meter 'WallyAce' motoryacht in build
Italian builder Wally has kicked off it 'megayacht' motor yacht line with the construction of the "WallyAce" model -the design was introduced some time ago- of which a few units on the 26-meter variant are in build. There are two variants so far, the 26-meter (86-feet) and the 36-meter (118-feet).
The WallyAce 26-meter model is expected to be launched in 2012. This variant is expected to mount twin CAT marine engines, CAT C12s with 350-horse power each allowing her to run to 12-knots. She is not a speedster because economy in cruising is to be a hallmark. For instance, at 10-knots this WallyAce model will travel 2,400 nautical miles.
Accommodation for the 26-meter variant varies because one of the two that are in-build has a three-stateroom layout and the second hull has a four-stateroom layout...

Both the Naval Architecture and the exterior design of Diamonds are Forever are by Benetti while the interior design is by Evan K Marshall. The 1100-gross tonne superyacht is Lloyd's Register and MCA compliant. Come December 2011 you can expect to see her available for charter.
On the inside, the layout allows accommodation in a master, a VIP that is almost as lavish as the master, three doubles and a twin for twelve guests. The crew of approximately fifteen have their own cabins. Diamonds are Forever has twin CAT 3512C engines for a combined power output of around 3,700 horse power...
