85-meter Project 'Liquid' superyacht by Vripack
The Vripack design firm has been continually busy with new projects. Whether newly delivered projects they designed or newly commissioned projects on the horizon. One of the latest from Vripack is an 85-meter superyacht design called 'Liquid'.
The design is in-house at Vripack and is envisioned to have a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Provisions have been made in the design for a helipad to host a large helicopter.
Liquid's signature straight bow and hard-edged aggressive lines work well with her two-toned paint scheme. Some quick dimensions include LOA of 85-meters, more than comfortable BOA of 14.30-meters and maximum draft of 4.00-meters. Liquid is project number 6816 at Vripack.

Progress on Moonen 42-meter "Sofia" superyacht
Construction on the new "Sofia" is going well and quickly. It shouldn't be in the too distant memory that the owner wanted the Moonen flagship to be even larger with a four-foot extension to the stern area over the initial LOA. The difference in length at the stern was to allow storage of a three-person U-boatworx submarine. Sea trials on the submarine will begin in Malta in mid-May while back in Holland the dedicated launch crane is being pre-assembled and tested before final installation onboard the yacht.
Two of the suites are nearly complete giving a better idea of the Art-Line interior concept. Meanwhile, the entertainment system is being engineered and installed, increasing in sophistication all the time to include a full Kaleidoscope video server with Samsung Smart LED TVs and multi-room control (including lighting, blinds and climate control) via i-Pad...

Project 'Topaz' superyacht launches at Lurssen

The technical launch allowed the world to finally see the design in totality. The new superyacht has been built under a veil of secrecy and details are almost none as the yard is holding fast to confidentiality agreements.
Even the LOA is not widely known but she is believed to be either 144-meters or a bit longer. Her beam is a staggering 21.5-meters (about 72-feet). The Topaz project was transferred from the yard to the floating dry dock in May 2011 to be fitted out. It was this same dry dock that she sailed out of today. Topaz is now possibly Lurssen's second largest superyacht constructed. As further details emerge we will keep you posted.
