New SuperSports Series unveiled at 2012 MYS by Palmer Johnson
American Yacht builder Palmer Johnson Yachts unveiled a new line of SuperSports yachts at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). The new line of yachts range from 42-meters to 72-meters with the middle size of the range at 48-meters. The exterior styling is radical and fresh offering invigorating feelings for new design. One of the new SuperSports Yachts is actually under construction.
The first yacht to be completed in the series will the 48-meter variant. She will be launched in 2013 and also delivered in 2013. Bear in mind that the yachts will be built in carbon composite. However, the surprising stand out feature is not the hybrid reverse bow but the small sponsons/outriggers that protrude from the aft. The sponsons are wave-piercing in design as well. In essence she is not a mono-hull and having the distinct advantage of better stability over a true mono-hull of the same size...
Claydon Reeves and BMT Nigel Gee collaborate on 55-meter 'Oxygen' CAT project
A collaboration between Claydon Reeves and BMT Nigel Gee produces a new design for a large powered catamaran. The 55-meter design proposal is on a special SWATH platform. The vessel is being called Project 'Oxygen' but as luxurious as the design is intended to be, it will be as utilitarian as can be imagined.
Actually, one of the main purposes underpinning the design is for a platform for dive exploring. It is for this reason that the design is capable of carrying extenisve dive equipment. To haul that equipment its prospective explorers Oxygen is proposed to be powered by four MTU engines of the 2000 series. Top speed of Oxygen is expected to be in the region of 24-knots with far more comfortable ride compared to a monohull of the same size...
Owen Clarke Design to unveil new 40M sloop at MYS
When the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) gets underway in just over a week's time several designs will be unveiled and showcased at the show. One such design destined to be unveiled is a 40-meter blue-water sloop by Owen Clarke Design. The new design is billed as being capable of making quick oceanic passages in a safe and secure platform.
One of the standout features is the so-called dreadnought bow, which was a popular feature of by-gone warships. It offers more space at the bow for sailing gear and naturally slightly increases the waterline. A look at the design allows you to see her low profile to the water there by bringing persons onboard closer to the water for a thrilling experience, whether under sail or at anchor.
On the inside, Owen Clarke Designs made it possible to have either a four or five-cabin layout. Four cabins for the rest of the crew while the captain has their own cabin...
Pisa Superyachts complete "Project 12" megayacht
Pisa Superyachts have now completed their latest luxury megayacht dubbed "Project 12". If the name Pisa Superyachts doesn't sound familiar to you it is because it is a new company that took over from the former Cantieri di Pisa. The 46.5-meter megayacht looks very similar to the Akhir line of yachts from the former company.
Project 12's interior boasts design work by the cool Mark Berryman. The interior's decor is sophisticated yet relaxed for owner and guests alike to enjoy to the maximum. Upscale materials have been utilized on the interior namely, leathers, marbles, lime-washed teak and other sumptuous fabrics that clad the array of furniture pieces throughout the yacht. As for the colour wheel, the colour choices followed on a vibrant path with colourful splashes seen throughout in accent pieces like throw cushions...
Guido de Groot introduces the 'Streamliner' megayacht
Again, a designer has been bold enough to tap into inspiration from the past and throw out a retro design for a megayacht concept. One of these latest exploits comes from Guido de Groot with a concept called the 'Streamliner' 42-meter Project.
We are always "passionate and eager to explore new solutions.", this is according to Guido de Groot Design and is clear on the design of the Streamliner concept. Although the design has several classical elements, the yacht is a modern as any. One of these elements is a fold out balcony on the sea along the forward-end of the lower deck...
The Vripack Liquid, the Research Vessel re-invented
The Vripack Design Studio has been munching over this one for several years and in the recent year she has grown to be the Vripack vision of the Research Vessel Yacht 2.0 (RVY). Therefore her internal project name has long been Turmoil II. The main reason for this is her striking long forward part being the boat deck, just like Vripacks’ previous RVY 1.0.
However, design wise Vripack did not go for a classic raised forecastle which pops up from the sheer. Liquid Silvers’ forecastle is directly connected to the Owners deck which is situated one deck above the main deck. In this sense, the empty part from the original RVY which is between the raised forecastle and superstructure now blends the two together making the lines cleaner and less cloddy while the extremely practical location of the boat deck is still there. A typical form follows function example...

Italian yacht builder San Lorenzo is currently working on the second hull for the SD110 range of yachts. The Semi Displacement yacht fits comfortably between San Lorenzo's SD92 and SD122 models giving owners more choice in an already well established range. Speaking of owners, this one is destined for an American client.
The yacht oozes typical San Lorenzo styling, no surprises in the design. Currently under construction at the yard's Viareggio facilities the tri-deck megayacht is on schedule for delivery in 2014. San Lorenzo spared no chance at trying to open up the saloon area on the main deck. As is present on many of their models now, the sliding doors on the side of the saloon open to the side decks. The view outwards is further aided by foldable bulwarks that jettison to create mini balconies or terraces...

Moonen delivers 82' Alu yacht "My Way"
The new Moonen 82 "My Way" was recently handed over to its owners at Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands. My Way was built for Russian clients who have been very involved in the entire process. Delivered exactly as planned, the yacht easily surpassed her specified speed of 25-knots in sea trials.
The owner of the new Moonen 82 Alu had previously owned a GRP motoryacht and his experiences had convinced him that speed was nothing without comfort. He approached Moonen to commission a 'fast displacement' yacht at the same time as the yard was developing a new range of aluminum vessels called the Alu-series, the first of which was the Moonen 94 Alu "Nilo".
"We were impressed with the flexibility of the yard and its designers," remembers the owner. "My Way is a fine classic example of customization...

Maiora yachts have launched their latest yacht to date, a member of the Maiora 29-meter family. The yacht was recently launched in Italy at their Viareggio facilities. The new all-white megayacht boasts a name that is as simple yet pertinent to her type, “Efficient Propulsion”.
This Maiora 29 has an interesting propulsion system that allows her further efficient running. This fact obviously had significant bearing on the name chosen for the yacht. Efficient Propulsion features pods with contra-spinning propellers that apparently reduce the consumption of fuel by as much as 30-percent compared to if she had conventional screw arrangement.
On the inside, Efficient Propulsion offers guest accommodation for at least eight in an owner’s stateroom, a VIP-type cabin and two twin cabins...
