"ourtheory" Is Nordhavn N8002; Delivered
Earlier this year year YF alerted you to the 2nd hull in the N80 series arriving at Dana Point, CA after being offloaded from a Heavy Lift freighter in Ensenada, MX. That was in February, fast forward to June and that same boat has been christened "ourtheory" and delivered to her owners. The owners initially didn't have 'a theory' on which Nordhavn boat they wanted. They showed distinct interest in the N55, N72, and then back to the N55 but ultimately they settled on the N80...
Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence!
As we reflect on the past 20 years, we faced many behind the screen challenges; an ever-changing landscape of operating systems, browsers, spammers, coding and keeping discussions relevant. In between this digital delirium we wrote the kind of in-depth reviews that made print media step-up their game. Yachting magazines became the benefactor of our work as we watched our discussions become the facts in their latest articles. We've worked around-the-clock to build yachting's biggest boat show but we didn't do this alone. Thousands of passionate members took time to share their experience resulting in a resource we've all come to trust...

Summit 54 By Summit Motoryachts
Summit Motoryachts is a brand of the Kadey-Krogen Group and they have a three-model line-up so far for their customers. The line runs roughly between 58-feet and 68-feet and encompasses the Summit 54, Summit 54 Coupe and the Summit 62. This timeless design combines the craftsmanship and attention to interior comfort for which their sister brand, Kadey-Krogen Yachts is known for. With a planing hull designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, the Summit 54 brings to the dock a new perspective. The misconception that express cruisers are simply meant for day hops or a long weekend is immediately shut down when you consider the attributes of the Summit 54. With solid construction techniques and an efficient hull design, she will 'summit' at 28 knots...
OA 32E By Ocean Alexander
We might have seen the popular OA 30R and 28E from Ocean Alexander but we haven't seen the OA 32E as yet - at least up until earlier this year-. At the Miami International Boat Show in February the first OA 32E was on display for the first time. At the time there were three other units under construction with the second slated to launch soon (at the time). Evan K...

Volvo Penta's New Propulsion System For Larger Vessels
Normally YF does not cover news surrounding engine developments however, this will have meaningful implications going forward and therefore we thought it important to highlight the following. Volvo Penta is currently working on an IPS (Inboard Propulsion System) for much larger vessels, the IPS 40. Normally, the IPS scenario is relegated to smaller motor yachts and now the company is targeting the 25 to 55-plus meter bracket with a new IPS . Below is a look at the regular combustion engine set up...

Dixon Yacht Design 33-meter Mini Juno
The 33-meter Mini Juno sail yacht concept coming from the boards of Dixon Yacht Design isn't just a concept it is a proposal that can actually be built if an owner took up the project. The sailing yacht is envisioned with a singular free-standing dynarig mast which we know isn't far-fetched as "Maltese Falcon" was the first sail yacht to utilize this rig setup. The arrangement is also seen on the more recent 106.7-meter "Black Pearl". In short, the rig is one that can be incorporated in reality on the Mini Juno concept...
First VQ115 Veloce Launched By Vanquish Yachts
Vanquish Yachts recently launched their first unit from the VQ115 Veloce model. The yacht takes its design from the Guido de Groot studio which showcase lengthy and sweeping retro lines. The first example was launched to the water a few days ago on the 15th of May. This yacht is made for high performance with an estimated top speed to be 50-knots. That performance will come at a cost because operating the vessel on just two of its three engines still only permits a range of 500 nautical miles...
78-meter Superyacht "O'Rea" Launched
Towards the end of 2022 YF published an article on the in-build 78-meter "O'Rea". https://www.yachtforums.com/threads/news-golden-yachts-78m-superyacht-orea-in-build.36826/ . That superyacht has now been launched. Sporting an exterior design by Studio Vafiadis with its characteristic plumb bow as well as an interior by Studio Massari. The interior volume is a healthy 1,596 GT spreading over four decks above the waterline. Golden Yachts with their last few launches have presented designs that are a bit uncharacteristic. That LPC 70 had its first unit sold earlier this year with delivery towards the end of 2024. The design of the LPC 85 tries to capture as much light as possible as well as open-up the interior to be one with the exterior surroundings. This can been seen with the significant degree to which the doors on the main deck slide away to open-up the main salon area. Then the flybridge is totally open with the exception of a hardtop to provide respite from the sun...
