Italian yard Rossi Navi rolled out their first yacht for 2013. She isn't fully launched as yet, she will take to the water next week. She is the 48-meter Enrico Gobbi-designed "Vellmari". She was built under project name 'Ketos' as hull-number FR026 at their Viareggio yard. The vessel is powered by twin MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines, with 2,600 BHP each. This choice was not based on a desire to reach high speeds, a maximum of 17.5-knots, but to offer maximum cruising comfort. The Humphree interceptors were chosen to provide the best cruising performance.
Ketos summarizes elegance and aggressiveness: the first is expressed by the lean exterior lines and the sleek, racy style of its volumes, while the second is provided by the numerous more risqué details, reminiscent of the world of aeronautics and car design...

Newcruise pens 180-meter superyacht "My World"
German designers Newcruise were asked to pen a very large design for a superyacht, perhaps gigayacht. With vessels such as "Dubai", "Eclipse" and Project "Azzam" (fitting out) pretty much in existence, it shows that some owners aren't afraid to design yachts of world proportions. In fact the new design from Newcruise is dubbed "My World". The vessel is just a design, a concept at the moment but it is surely one that could be built. As can well be imagined, a vessel this size, 180-meters, will have every conceivable feature expected on a yacht and even on land! There are two helipads one of which has a hangar, conference rooms, space for submarines, plethora of tenders, spa, cinema, sports club, large island-oasis pool and so on.
The owner will have his/her own private deck. Yes an entire deck of the eight decks is devoted to the owner...

Bury Designs 60-meter trimaran explorer superyacht
The popularity of multihulls has been taking root in the superyacht industry, at least on paper. Another designer, Bury Yacht Design, presents an exploring multihull design, this one with three hulls. The trimaran concept, even though it is largely a monohull has two smaller hulls, supersized outriggers more-or-less.
Bury Yacht Design worked in conjunction with Triton Yachts to design the vessel in such a way that storing submarines onboard would not be a problem. The 60-meter trimaran explorer has plenty of room on the aft main deck thanks to the multi hull concept. The yacht has been designed also to accommodate twelve crew along with six guests and a private deck for the owner. It would be a suitable platform to carry any of Triton's larger or smaller submarines and provides the chance to prospective owners, the oportunity of a lifetime...
ISA's first hull of the 41-meter Classic megayacht series
Italian builder ISA is presently working on a number of yachts. Like many other yards they have a few new hulls of new series under construction. One of them is the first hull of the Classic 41-meter series set to launch this year.
She is 41-meters LOA, approximately 8.40-meters wide and draws 2.40-meters. Design has been penned by Andrea Vallicelli and underscores the modern lines that ISA are known for. Cerri sells third 102' Flying Sport megayacht
Cerri Yachts, a member of the Rodriguez Group successfully sold another one of their 102-foot Flying Sport megayachts, their third hull so far. She has been sold to a Russian client and they will be changing up a few elements onboard the yard as compared to the other two 102-foot Flying Sport hulls.
These yachts aren't slow either with a top speed in the region of 38-knots and high-cruise speed of 30-knots thanks to their twin 2,600 horse power MTU set up. Okay to those changes we spoke of earlier. The normal fit out with a flying bridge yacht is a helm station on the flying bridge as well as one below -indoors-. However, the third hull only has one on the flying bridge. You may ask why? The owner apparently wants a two-level master stateroom, so the space that typically goes to the interior helm station, gets incorporated in the owner's master plan, literally...
Enrico Gobbi unveils new 88.5-meter superyacht design
A new design for an 88.5-meter superyacht has been unveiled by Team 4 Design. Headed by Enrico Gobbi, the design focuses on broad deck spaces and large glazed areas to maximize the interaction of light and view. Gobbi comments, ‘Another part of the brief was to have a lot of glass, clients want wide windows for views.’
One of the main features of the yacht design is the owner's deck or decks I should say. The master stateroom is actually situated across two of the uppermost decks of the design. The owner's deck boasts other prim and proper features. Gym and ensuite bathrooms are also in the offing. A heli-pad is located outside of the lower level owner's deck. They can easily arrive by the yacht's helicopter and stroll into the lower level of the owner's suite. Subject to potential owners' preferences the yacht can have four double guest cabins and a VIP on the main deck...
Converting a Chinese Research vessel into a luxury yacht
This design is the last project from the five finalists of the "Young Designer of the Year Award". Matthew and Kyle describe their project in the following manner. When approaching the task of converting a Chinese research vessel into a modern luxury yacht, we aimed to develop an elegant and realistic design while maintaining original features in terms of both styling and manufacture.
Exterior features include a unique ducktail and aft beach design, an extensive forward pool and bathing area, and a multipurpose flybridge with a bar and hot-tub. The yacht also features several exterior dining areas. The main feature retained from the donor vessel is the funnel, which we have redesigned to be more modern and to feature prominently within the yacht’s interior...
