Alloy launches 56.4-meter sailing ketch "Mondango"
New Zealand yacht manufacturer Alloy Yachts launched their latest superyacht, the 56.4-meter ketch "Mondango". Built for a repeat client their other sailing yacht bore the same name. Mondango follows on the heels of Alloy's last launch, the 44-meter sloop "Encore" launched earlier this year.
Mondango's construction commenced back in 2011 and was assigned hull number AY46 in build. Not surprisingly Dubois Naval Architects behind the Naval Architecture as well as exterior design of the new Mondango while Reymond Langton Studios were chosen for the unique interior design. Her rig comprises of two Carbon masts and booms by Southern Spars with sails by North Sails. She will make the journey to the Viaduct Harbour in Auckland where she will be fully launched into the water...
SanLorenzo signs two contracts at FLIBS
Italian yard SanLorenzo copped two more contracts to their build portfolio from the last yacht show in Florida, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). The two contracts were signed for a SD110 and a SL94. Although coming from production lines, the two megayachts are expected to be customized by their owners to their own personal tastes and whims.
The standard SD110 is just under 34-meters LOA (33.60-meter) and has a BOA of 7.66-meters. The 170-tonne yacht only draws 2.06-meters while carrying as many as ten guests and owner plus five crew. 2 X MTU 12V 2000 M72 power the standard SD110 to a top speed of 17-knots with an autonomy range of 2,750 nautical miles at a leisurely 11-knots. Baltic announces new 35-meter sailing yacht order
Baltic Yachts announces the sale of a new high performance cruising yacht. Build start is scheduled for December 2013. Nauta Design is in charge of exterior styling and interior design for this yacht with the hull lines to come from judel/vrolijk.
The yacht will have a full carbon sandwich construction and be equipped with a lifting keel. Nigel Ingram from MCM is managing the project with the delivery to take place in Autumn 2015. The 35-meter sailing yacht will have an overall beam of just over 8-meters (8.07-meters) and a variable draft. The lifting keel extends out to 5.75-meters and retracts to just 3.55-meters. Displacement is to be in the region of 88,000 KG...
New Sunseeker 86 model under construction
The first hull of the the new Sunseeker 86-foot line of motoryachts is under construction and expected to be launched next year. The new line of yacht will be utilizing an entirely new hull-form to aid in displacement speeds. Other features four large ensuite staterooms for guests, new interior design and architecture.
Effort has been made to extend the range of this motoryacht and thus 1,500 nautical miles is the new benchmark thanks to her 11,000 liter fuel tank. Midships, the bulwark has a fold-down balcony incorporated. The bow has a social area comprised of a sizable sunpad and a 'U'-shaped seating with table. Canados develops new range of fast Explorer Yachts
Italian builder Canados developed a new line of fast Explorer Yachts from 27-meters to 42-meters. The intended effort was to try to capture those owners who might want the benefits of high-performance coupled with the further advantage of relatively low fuel consumption. This is partly how the new Oceanic Fast Explorer line of yachts were envisioned. We will be briefly looking at two of the members of the Oceanic Fast Explorer line, the Oceanic 90 and the Oceanic 140-footers. Both will have several similarites to them. 1: they will be trans-oceanic sailers. 2: they will be what Canados is terming, 'displaning' yachts. Canados engineers have dubbed a new terminology, the displaning hull. This essentially means that the yachts provide relatively low running costs at speeds sub 14-knots in displacement mode while performance improves dramatically at semi-planing speeds...
Azimut unveils the new Azimut Grande 95RPH motoryacht
Italian manufacturer Azimut recently revealed the design for the Azimut Grande 95RPH motoryacht. The 95-foot RPH is part of th Grande series from Azimut and it emcompasses a line of their yachts 95-feet to 120-feet. Esenyacht 50-meter sailing yacht "Troy"
Bodrum, Turkey-based company Esenyacht is currently working on a 164-foot sailing superyacht called "Troy". Both exterior and interior design work is by Tim Saunders who also worked in close cooperation with the yard's various and relevant design departments.
The 50-meter Troy will be sloop-rigged and the design's finished product will blend subtle angles with curves in prominent areas. The flying bridge is the place to be for high-point relaxation and lounging. Beautifully built-in seating has been provided and the view aft is almost unhindered with a tapering end to the aft overhang.
One deck below, to the aft cockpit, there is also plenty of space to sit or lay. A cleverly incorporated jacuzzi sits toward the aft of this deck and takes advantage of the view over the stern and down onto the fold-out beach platform when extended...
Lurssen delivers 180-meter superyacht "Azzam"
"Azzam" is now officially the largest superyacht in the world, ironically taking that title from a yacht called "Eclipse". Nauta Design has been responsible for the exterior design of this record-breaking superyacht while the interior was put together by Christophe Leoni, CL Decor. Of course, engineering and construction was by Fr. Lurssen Werft.
Azzam has been built slightly less than three years from steel cutting following one year of engineering which is a phenomenal feat for such a large vessel to superyacht standards. She's no slouch either, at 180-meters, her extraordinary length does not keep her back. Azzam is capable of 30+ knots if needed. Azzam is powered by four engines -two diesels and two gas turbines-, connected to water-jets, producing 94,000 horse power...
Riva 122-foot Mythos motoryacht
Currently under construction at the CRN yard, the Riva 122-foot long 'Mythos' is Riva's largest motoryacht built yet. The all-aluminium planing motoryacht has a design by Mauro Micheli of Officina Italiana Design. A pair of MTU 12V 4000 M93L engines are responsible for Mythos' anticipated top speed of 27-knots. The 37-meter aluminium yacht will come complete with a square jacuzzi on the flybridge as well as ample sun-bathing areas. Guests will be able to sun on pads located either on the bow, just aft of the jacuzzi as well as on the aft decks...
Build update on the new HJB 45-meter sloop "YIII"
Construction is now well underway of this sleek 45m high performance sloop which has been designed by Bill Dixon with an interior from the boards of Rhoades Young Design. The yacht was commissioned by a repeat client who has enjoyed many years sailing on his current HJB yacht. She'll be painted in a relaxed and light earthy/sandy colour on the hull with white superstructure, mast and boom.
Designed to do very well in the light airs of the Mediterranean, the yacht will include a number of special features. Highlights include a fully automatic bimini and dodger, a double hinging transom door/swim platform, and a telescopic lifting keel that has been designed in such a way that it will not interfere with the interior layout. Jongert launches pocket sized motoryacht "Tommy"
Dutch yacht builder Jongert launched a petit motoryacht recently with an LOA of only 18-meters. She is called "Tommy" and boasts modern lines and current-day appeal. One of the main characteristics to the design of Tommy is easily the generosity of glazed surfaces incorporated into the concept. The hull has been splashed with long horizontal windows.
The bulk of the windows are placed midships where the master stateroom is located, the owner takes advantage of stunning views. Performance creditials are facilitated by the use of twin Hamilton waterjets and powered by dual MAN engines. This package allows Tommy to attain a speed of 30-knots. Delivery of Tommy will follow later this year, when she will enjoy the year-round summer of Mauritius...
H2 Designed 71-meter 'Agat' superyacht launches
The large 71-meter superyacht designed by H2 Yacht Design and built in the far-flung regions of Russia has been launched. The superyacht has actually completed sea-trials as well. Sevmash, the builder built her with a fluid yet aggressive exterior lines contrasted by an Art-Deco interior also designed by H2 Yacht Design.
Built under Project code A1331, the superyacht showcases a dark blue hull and white superstructure. A unique feature of this yacht will be an indoor swimming pool in place of the traditional main saloon. Twelve guests will be slept onboard and enjoy the luxury of a generous 11.40-meter beam. When delivered, this yacht will be the biggest and most sophisticated ever built in Russia and will be followed by a sister ship soon after, for which H2 is also designing the interior...

Lurssen delivers 85.1-meter superyacht "Solandge"
German custom superyacht builder Lurssen successfully delivered the 85.1-meter "Solandge" -previously known under project name 'Niki'. Bearing design by the famed Espen Oeino she is just another feather in the cap of this designer and yet another success-story for this German builder (Lurssen). This displacement superyacht peaked out at 18-knots during her trials and can take you for 6,000 nautical miles at 12-knots.
The Aileen Rodriguez interior has been created from a comtemporary concept with some classical finishes and features a wide array of prized and precious materials. Try 33 types of exotic wood and veneers or 40-plus natural-stone pieces in bathroom walls and floors throughout. The interior hosts and sleeps twelve guests in eight cabins. When the owner is onboard there is a dedicated deck for them. Solandge carries 29 crew members and sleeps them in 15 cabins...
Horizon PC60 Hull Six Successfully Completes Sea Trial
Hull six of the popular Horizon PC60 model has successfully completed her sea trial in Kaohsiung harbour with her U.S. owner on board; the power catamaran performed extremely well, showcasing her performance and seakeeping abilities to the satisfaction of her owner and the Horizon team.
Featuring an open bridge, this PC60 combines comfort and luxury within a three stateroom layout plus a kids cabin, and her interior decor blends Anegre and Carpathian Elm burl woods with warm neutral soft goods to create a simple but elegant feel. The PC60 will deliver to her new owner this month and will showcase at the 2014 Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show in February 2014...
Westport 112 motoryacht hull 52 sold
The highly successful Westport 112 series is still going on strong and continues with the latest sale. Hull 52 in the 34-meter series is currently under construction and was recently sold. With the new sale, this new Westport motoryacht will continue on course for delivery around March 2014.
The proven hull platform provides accommodation for eight guests in a master suite, VIP stateroom and two guest cabins with. There are also three separate crew cabins located aft for up to five crew members. Power comes via dual 2,000 horse power MTU engines that provide a cruising speed in the region of 22-knots. Flat out, she'll do a maximum speed of 25-knots and you can expect a range of approximately 2,500 nautical miles at 12-knots.

Blue Coast 101' DD Sail Yacht Under Construction
Currently under construction at Latitude Yachts, this 101-foot sailing catamaran is designed by Coste Design & Partners and is made of Sealium with a two-deck configuration staggered one behind the other and separated by four steps. The lower deck is dedicated for the owner's suite at the front of the superstructure. This area affords exceptional full sea views.
The main deck at the aft of the superstructure offers a huge rear cockpit of nearly 90 m2. This deck is dedicated to the lounge and dining area. This innovative concept of the double-deck configuration allows persons in each of the areas to enjoy a panoramic sea view, using the difference of level of the decks. OceAnco launches 91.5-meter hull 'Y-709' superyacht
The latest and newest superyacht has emerged from Dutch builder OceAnco. She is the 91.5-meter 'Y-709' also going by the designation PA164. The new superyacht blends alot of what we have been accustomed to in the Y700 series and surely adds a number of new features and styling elements.
The 300-foot twin-screw superyacht has been built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and is projected to run to a top-speed of 19.5-knots. A pair of MTU 20V 4000 M73L engines should ensure this becomes a reality on sea trials. Each of them are around 4,800 horse power. This superyacht boasts a nearly 50-foot beam, 14.6-meters! Alloy Yachts introduces new turn-key MY47 motoryacht
New Zealand builder Alloy Yachts is moving a step further as it concerns their known 47-meter line of yachts. They are offering a new motor yacht model, based on their award-winning "Loretta Anne", called the MY47. The new model is being marketed as an 'all-inclusive turnkey package', meaning the functions of a yacht designer and interior designer are included in one price point.
She is designed by Dubois Naval Architects following a similar deisgn philosophy to Loretta Anne. Alloy Yachts expects that with its experience producing similar sized and complex yachts as well as pre-engineering of many of the features and parts that construction time will be streamlined and reduced. The MY47 will be available in four models. These include a tri-deck version and a flybridge version, both with and without beach clubs...
Bayliss Boatworks launch 25.6M sportfish yacht "Orion"
The 25.6-meter "Orion" is now the largest sportfish yacht launched by U.S yard Bayliss Boatworks. Construction began just before mid 2011 and now the flagship of the yard has been launched and sea trials completed in September, 2013.
Orion bears Naval Architecture by Robert Ullberg and the design features a wooden hull construction finished in dark blue. The superstructure is in traditional white with a large open tuna tower. Inside, Orion boasts accommodation in five cabins including a full-beam stateroom for the owner. There are also five heads onboard this custom-built sportfish yacht. Orion ran through her paces in sea trials and recorded a top speed of 42-knots! She carries dual MTU M94 engines each with 2,600-horse power...
