We don't get too many mega-yachts down in Fremantle, especially since the somewhat demise of Oceanfast. However, just got the news that Lürssen's Eos is in town for a refit. http://inmycommunity.com.au/news-and-views/local-news/Super-schooner-laid-up-in-Freo/7535182/ Will try to get some pics this weekend. Cheers
Thank you Dainisk. I could use a good, hi-res, well-framed photo of EOS. After all, EOS is the world's largest luxury yacht! Hey, it's on the net, so it must be true... (exert from link above)
Hi, I know the Captain of EOS and chatted to him a couple of hours ago. We both think that there is some sort of mental blockage for a lot of non yachting people to consider anything over 50m and no sails to be a yacht which might explain why it is described the way it is in that article.
Eos pics Finally, nice to be able to contribute to this fantastic website! With the Admiral's permission (on the left in one of the pics) and for a perfect spring day in Fremantle, got a few pics of Eos. If anyone wants some higher resolution pics, sent me an email. Cheers Dainis
more Eos pics last few... the last pics shows Fremantle harbour with the Maritime Museum in the background. Of note, the mueseum contains Australia's America's Cup winning boat from 1983. Cheers Dainis
While out twilight sailing last night on the Swan river, came across a big surprise - a megayacht way upstream, and one I hadn't seen before. Sailed around her - named Infinity, with Fremantle as the registered port - guess at 35-40m. That's odd. Even more odd is how it got up river with a couple of very low bridges in Fremantle. They must have temporarily removed all the fruit from the top of the boat in order to get upriver. Has there been a new launch recently, as I can't find any info on this Infinity? Unfortunately no one on board had a camera, so I'll try to get some pics on the w/e if it's still there.
