Thought you all might like to see a few pics from Alaska and Vancouver.

Ok ok... it's badly centered, but I wasn't the photographer!

I have no idea what this is... but I expect it's quite old. Very neat looking IMO.

Interesting... a machine gun mounted on the bow of an inflatable. Did they ever think what would happen if someone shot back? :D

    Alumercia is notable sighting…

It’s not quite as sleek as most of Heesen’s launches, as it was designed as more of an exploration yacht, but it’s using an interesting propeller/drive system, developed by Schottel. They also supplied the drives used on Octopus, Limitless & Tatoosh.

Another interesting feature are the storage bays, which includes a “trunk” located on the aft skylounge deck, as well as a slide-out garage in the stern, which houses a jeep. These VriPack innovations resulted in Alumercia winning the 2001 SuperYacht Award.

Here’s a nice running shot. If you look closely, you can see the large auto-style trunk.

Ah so. Pretty popular for tugs, I had no idea they were also found on yachts.

The old police boats, small marine ships and quite a few other government services in Holland used these; very popular second hand; all rebuild as small yachts.
Given the origin of Vripack, this choice is not such a big surprise.

    Alumercia in Rotterdam

I've seen Alumercia in the port of Rotterdam yesterday. Has been a while since she was last sighted in Holland.

    Not to burst your bubble...

Actually if that was manufactured by Safe Boats (http://www.safeboats.com/), then it's not an inflatable. They use foam collars.

"SAFE Boats International is the sole source manufacturer of foam-stabilized water craft in North America. Working under a set of exclusive patents and licenses allows only SAFE Boats International to utilize a full-sized foam collar system for flotation, stability and fendering "

In addition, "The Standard SAFE Boats collar system has been proven to stop small-arms fire from penetrating the hull. With the addition of ballistic material placed behind or actually laminated into the collar, it has been shown to withstand ammunition of up to 7.62 mm. "
