Our ol' (old) YF master and I were going to take a ride this past weekend and bring you yacht photos from South Florida. But alas, a lousy weather forecast and a webmaster that doesn't quite bounce back as quickly from a Saturday evening out canceled our plans. Not to leave our YF brethren out in the cold, here is a smattering of yacht photos taken over the past month or so in my travels.

    Thunder clouds forming over Lauderdale

    Respite from the blazing sun

    Expecting company?

Name that yacht ('cause I don't know)

Here's a new yacht with a nameboard by Yachtsign who had me shoot it for their brochure. Know the yacht?

On the newly refit Gulf Sentry. This 1960's era former missile retriever is now a part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commision. Derecktor in Dania did the refit, which included cutting off the bottom and welding a new one in place, as well as new powerplants and house. Only original parts are the hull sides and deck. Oh yeah, and the captain cut his teeth on, you guessed it, yachts, many years ago.

    Gotta run, more later.

Seems I remember that mother ship sitting on the Dania Cutoff Canal a year or so ago with a 2 man crew aboard. Is it still over by HMY? If it is, I'd have lost my mind by now if I were them.

It's my understanding it's legal issues have been settled, it's been sold and they have or are going to start a refit on it.

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity Bill. Not a job I'd like, but that's for another thread. Great pics, as usual, Tom.

Don't quote me. It's just what I've been told. :)

That boat was originally named "French Look" and the sportsfisherman she carries was custom designed for ultra light tackle fishing. With a modified stern/transom that allowed it to "plane" in reverse for high speed backing down on fish as I recall.

I seem to recall the sportfish was a 40' Gamefisherman. At least that is what I recall being on it when it was "French Look".

"The huge aft deck was ideal for this conversion process with a sophisticated, highly engineered hydraulic ‘ramp and track system’ for launching the 37’ Rybovitch Game Fisher ‘French Look III’. This launching and retrieval system is ideal so as to not miss a fishing opportunity!"

i think they changed to the gamefisher , when it was sold and refurb. ??

Maybe. I thought it was the other way around. :D

French Look had the Gamefisherman and French Look II had the Rybo.

    http://www.gamefisherman.com/motherships/

"Gamefisherman boats are known for being the boat of choice for fishing remote areas like Central America, Bermuda, The Azores, Madeira and other exotic destinations. Gamefisherman has supplied the sport boats for a number of mothership operations, including "FRENCH LOOK", a 167' with a 40' Gamefisherman on board, and a 42' Gamefisherman for the 228' "AUSSIE RULES"."

There is a Natita, and this is the next one for the same owner. It is a Richmond, not the former Richmond Lady but a new build. Was just delivered and going through a final setup.
