At approx. 10:30 PM (EST) on Tuesday night, YachtForums hit a reef and sank. We've worked through the night to refloat this behemoth. Some parts of the site are operational. Some are still under water. We'll keep the pumps running...

    Hi,

Don't worry Carl, I am sure there are a number of us here who will do what people normally do when there is some type of disaster.

We will be sitting or standing about watching :D

I hope it all gets sorted soon and your blood pressure can return to normal.

I guess I missed the sinking... I went to bed around that time last night, and this morning at 6 when I woke up we seemed to have our heads above water. What went down, so to speak?

What I experienced early this morning, was a number of blank pages...

Actually, even this post turned out as a blank page at first?

Technicians in our Colorado facility were setting up servers to be PCI compliant, which required a rebuild of Apache and upgrades to php. According to the technician performing the work, the IonCube loaders had not been enabled on our server following the php rebuild.

There are missing sequences in the database, which is why certain actions result in error messages. Some of the forums are not accessible from the index page, resulting in a blank white screen.

    Still working on this...

Same for me. I'm glad to see that Carl hasn't lost his touch of genius. Good to have a cool head at the helm.

Hey, I certainly did not miss this glitch or grounding of sorts. Last nite while trying to write something for the site, I saw a white screen that was filled with lines of code. I thought something was wrong with my personal computer but, it-as I am now finding out-, is a problem on the Bridge of YF:)

OK... I think we found the bilge plug. The system is resolving nominally. If anyone notices any quirks, please notify me. In the meantime, I'm gonna get some sleep!

Thanks K1W1:rolleyes: . I took your advice, so now I know what it stands for but I don't think I have enough years (or desire) left to understand it all. Think I'll stick to boats.;) Good night Carl. Thanks again.

    Hi,

I think I preferred this view! It also kinda answers the question in the thread title.

a few years back i was on receiving end of a PHP upgrade by the server guys... no warning until i started getting emails than things were "not working". Spent 2 days fixing code which was no longer working on the latest version.

those upgrades can be a mjor PITA sometimes.

Upgrade. It's a word that implies making something better. Why does that word strike fear in to the hearts of man...
Upgrade from XP to Vista. Yes, that worked.
ECU upgrade for the car.. what's wrong with the car, after the upgrade it feels like there's a limiter kicking in at a ridiculously low speed. Yes, sir, your car comes standard with tires only rated for continuous operation at a specific speed so the upgrade limits the car to that speed. No sir, I didn't notice the higher speed rated tires that we sold to you and installed on your car.

Couldn't access the forums...Paranoia and panic slowly turned to listlessness. I stood in the corner of the kitchen for a while, head tilted slightly to one side...my wife said my eyes were dead. We lit some candles and arranged them around the computer. I sacrificed a bottle of Drambuie and chanted 'Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet and Watch' a few times, whilst turning Safari off and on again in time to my subdued heart beat.
    Seems to have worked.
