I have a 112 Westport owner (not for sale) that does not move the boat much. So he decided to just keep a mate on board and fired the captain. Now his insurance wants a captain of record asap. Boat is in Delray
Sounds as if he needs to pay a local captain a retainer. Perhaps he's stepped over a dollar to pick up a dime.
The captain of record whatever that means is responsible for the boat. With hurricane season what will happen if that one captain has to Relocate both boats? I doubt the insurance companies will Be happy … on bigger boats, underwriters want a full time captain, not just a captain of record. I would be very careful to clarify these definitions in writing with the underwriters
