    That name rings a bell...

sunseeker? 80ish? with a lime color strike near the waterline? think she was in Bimini Bay in Nov...

when did that happen? nothing on the local news sites... that marina is cursed, that would be 2 fires in a year plus an errant cargo ship...

    Did they hit a bouy?

Glad to hear nobody was hurt! Boats can be fixed/replaced.

Judy Waldman sent some pics over this morning. Looks like this Sunseeker is suffering a severe case of dehumidification...

Supposedly there was a worker aboard (overtime at 7:00 on a Monday night?). The owner came aboard and the "fire followed him out." Both he and the worker got out safely. Owner is a young fellow from large liquor family. He uses the boat almost every weekend. Impression is a bit of a party boat.

On the subject of Sunseekers, I received a Press Release this morning that Sunseeker's president Robert Braithwaite is stepping aside as the company undergoes restructuring.

Sorry guys, I need to brag. My son who is a firefighter on Miami Beach was part of the crew who worked on this boat yesterday. He said the preliminary findings were pointing to an electrical fire. I didn't speak to him in detail but let me know if you have any questions and I'll ask him.

well, most boat fires are electrical, especially at the dock. definitely the boat i saw at Bimini Bay a couple of months ago.

i like having small "halon" bottles in electrical panels, etc... in fact on the boat i run one of the first thing o did was add a small bottle behind the entertainment center/DC panel area due to the amount of "stuff" in there

I received the pictures from my son this morning. Carl, this is my first time uploading photos. Be gentle with me, don't rip me apart if I violated the rules.

that Sunseeker is an 82 Yacht. Stopped in production last year with the advent of the new 80 Yacht.
there was also a fire regarding a Bertram 42 at Port Everglades about a week ago. Apparently this was pretty risky and the boat was towed outside.
It was also stated that this 42 was undergoing a refit, which was nearly completed, but after seeing what is happening to its larger newer sisters it decided to commit suicide

Anyone know what started the fire? Fire fighters did a great job with this one and actually saved the boat from sinking while they were fighting the fire.

Bravo Zulu to the Miami FD a lot of departments don't have the training or resources to handle such an incident.

reminds me of when my boat caught fire some 10 years ago. firefighters wanted to use the bay water to put the fire out. That would've ended badly...

Best thing that came out of that was a nice amount of insurance money that was used to refit the boat completely new:D

From what I was told the firefighters weren't having any luck putting the fire out with water, they pumped so much water into the boat that it listed a little more than 45 degrees. It's when they started using foam that they were able to extinguish the fire.

Miami dade FD has two new fireboats, jet drives, pumps, all the latest gadgets based about 1 mile from Miami beach marina... I wonder why they didn't use one of them on that fire

If I'm not mistaken it was a Miami Beach FD call. I saw the MDPD fire boats on scene after the fire was out.

I saw a video of Miami's fire boats. They use Metalcraft's fire boat they are sweet boats. I operated one for about a year outside of DC and hopefully we will get one here in SAV
