130 owner suits; sizing from 672sq" to 4184sq" (62 to 389sq m)
and 36 rental suits; sizing from 319sq" to 846sq" (30 to79sq m)
Occupancy swings from 100 to around 300 passengers (max is 600+)
Fixed staff of 320; including:
24hr doctor+nurse service in hospital, with xray, operating and recovery.
Spa, Fitness Gym, Beauty and health, massage and therapy. most adv. seawise.
300m/985" jogging lane, Tennis court, Pools and bubble-spa's.
A Golf Pro to train you, golf tracks and sim. (real grass and even a sand trap)

You can own you suit and decorate it as you wish. When you are not there it can be rentet out.
The itinerary is one of the most interesting features about this ship:
Planned well in advance, the "World" circomnavigates the globe the year round.
Staying in ports 2 to 5 days each time. So it is in port some 250 days a year, giving you ample time to explore the local scenery and folklore.

PPS: it is still the "Greenest" "Cruise" ship on the oceans. Runs diesel not heavy oil, burns waste, etc. etc.

Billiard/Pool?

Checked...
Can see no pool/billiard room, no bowling and no football/soccer field.
None of these activities seem to be smart on a boat, stabilizers or not.
Golf or tennis would be interesting already, out doors, cruising at 18 knots.
There is a separate card room and there is a casino and slot machines.
Instead go to; the Cigar Club, the Day Lounge, the Regatta Bar, or one of the others spread around.
On another note: there is even "a Place of Worship"; the Harmony room.

Something very special about this ship...
The World calls on many smaller ports around the world. This way you get to see may of the small exotic islands that lie spread around the globe.

Some time ago, The World hat the privilege of being the first and only "cruise ship" to visit the Antarctica. Normally a "no go" by the nations holding property.
This trip included sightseeing tours and trips on the ice/shore to marvel at the scenery and the animal life there. As I understand the trip was with guiding help and assistance of the US military/Scientists present there.
Sounds like one of those, one in a life time experiences.

I guess somehow that you have some leverage, in negotiating tours when you travel together with 100 multi-millionaires.

Freedom Ship

I must say that I do not see this thing become a reality.
It is too big. 70000 residents, 30000 day guests...

Imagine passing by smaller islands and communities: One day provisions for fresh food would absolutely clean out anything but a major capital in the third world.
Leaving thousands of innocent locals and islanders to perish in an agonizing starving end, in the wake of the magnificent Freedom Ship.

There are many attempts to build the Condo-Cruise-Ship, latest I heard of a Canadian Cruise-Line that announced that they would be coming up with something big.
? Have anyone some insight into whether the Freedom Ship is anything but paper?
? Any news? All I can find on net is old news.
The concept is absolutely stunning. Huge. Humongous.

World to South America

The itinerary for 2006 includes South America.
Through the Panama Canal in February.

When is a yacht just a Yacht

The World might be seen as a Cruise Ship, There are some differences though…

1 The Itinerary is developed according to the residents wishes.

2 The Ship is at port 250 days a year, like most yachts.
Very unlike traditional Cruise Ships.
(While Cruising year round, normally stays 1 to 5 days in each port)

3 There are no planned entertainment such as, Dress Party, Games, Product Sales Demonstrations, Assigned tables, Fixed menus, etc.
Your time is your own, you are home. Do what you like, and when.

4 There is plenty of room; you do not have to fight for a place by the pools. Nobody will hassle you.
A “Cruise Ship” of this size would normally carry 1500 people with a 1000 crew.
The World typically carries 200 residents with a crew of 320.
(max passenger accommodation apr.700-800 ( I think))

5 As a Visitor, all expenses+tips incl. in fare. All food and drinks incl. You pay for massage and tours etc.
As Resident you pay a reg. fee for maintenance. May choose to pay fixed fee for food and beverages.

6 Public areas are considered safe, meaning no photographs. Security and privacy are paramount.

7 What you get here that you do not see anywhere else is the level of security:
All guests for Cruises are scrutinized and checked. You need a visitor to stay?, advice preferably months in advance.
Short time visitors while docked are thoroughly checked and monitored. Just as you do on GigaYachts.

There are many advantages to this Condominium style yachting:
If crew is sick, there is always somebody else to do the job. Helping hands everywhere.
You get tired of your own cooking or dining at restaurants, have a Chef come and cook in your suite. Etc.

Life can be so beautiful

World2

The original plans was for 80000tons, ended at 43000tons.
A contract was signed for a World2, what happened I do not know as yet.
The size is actually not a problem.
The small size makes it possible to visit smaller ports that would otherwise be too small. Or for that sake sail in waters with limited depth.
Since the ship is at sea for only short periods at a time, there is ample opportunity to stock fresh produce.
A concern would be the profitability of restaurants and other services with only limited clientele.
It all seems to work fine though, even though many residents shop at port and cook in their suites.

I keep waiting for another alternative, bigger would be OK.
This size does however guarantee the coziness and private feeling that you would seek, at a place like this.

Let’s agree that this ship is something else...
It does not really fall in to just one category.

I believe that we might see more of this concept.
Hope others will be just as successful in their attempt to build and offer these opportunities.
