Worlds largest Gigayacht

All I can say is "Why?" Triple Deuce is going to be 728 feet. Harmony of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship, will be nearly 1200 ft long. Maersk has ships over 1300 ft long. Seawise Giant, an oil tanker, was 1,504 ft long. So, it's not something that we sit back and say "Can it be done?" as clearly it can be. Just brings me back to "Why?"

My wife just concluded the only thing she could think of was Compensation for something else. No comment.

The Daily Mail is the UK's version of the National Enquirer in many ways.

This project though has grabbed my attention owing to one thing in the article.

It remains to be seen if this is what it seems to be.

What percentage of concept yachts would you estimate ever make it to being a yacht?

The Daily Mail makes it sound like it exists or is about to. Of course, they also say Azzam has a 94,000 hp engine. Well, 4 x 23,500 is 94,000. But I'm still picturing this truly monstrous engine they indicate.

Oh I love the "and that's too many." Honestly, it's that way in every industry. Designers want to design. Something new. Something different.

I was in consumer products for my career. Now imagine a job such as a towel or sheet or I once knew a sock designer. Towels, sheets, socks have been around forever. The real design is new fabrics. That's boring. You can just imagine some of the colors and artwork and visible designs presented to me over the years. There were times had I not known the designer so well I surely would have thought I was being pranked.

How many times are we going to be baited by 4Yacht? One-off, larger-then-life renders of yachts that a first-world country can't afford is is the only way he's ever been able to generate any interest in his brokerage business. There are several threads on YF discussing the ridiculousness of his exploits. Here's one......

It sounds about as real as Bentley Yachts. They probably share the same mailbox drop.

If I was a legitimate designer I'd sure hate for my name to ever be associated with them.

Wow! a lot of negative comments there! Yet again, this design looks like a proper superyacht... it doesn't resemble your typical 'crusierliner' style designs we see today.

The Designer was associated with not only the daily mail, 'olderboater', but as well as Fox News, Bloomberg, CNN to name a few. That would be thanks to 4yachts as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if the designer now has the attentions of other larger brokerages in regards to more 'buildable' projects.

Who knows, this concept might just happen or a smaller version at least. Cheers

It does look like a proper superyacht, that proper superyacht is named Azzam and we most certainly do see it today.

No 4yacht concept has ever gained any traction in industry press, and no 4yacht project has ever been picked up by any builder. They have done a good job of getting their press releases into popular press, I will grant that, but that is not a compliment. If this helps the designer get their foot in the door with some real brokerages or even builders (which is a possibility) then that makes this a publicity stunt..

If a smaller version of this is built it will be rightly hailed as a smaller version of Azzam, as the two yachts are so similar in outward appearance as to be indistinguishable as source material, save for hull color. I might even go so far as to suggest that the designer just designed a bigger version of Azzam, threw on a mast that was more in the proportions we are used to, and made some minor styling changes to give it some curved windows like you might see on a sport yacht like a Sunseeker or a Lazzara.

The only thing that would be revolutionary about this vessel would be that it was the next size up from the current largest size.

That would be evolutionary, not revolutionary. Now triple the size of the current largest, that would be revolutionary.
