The Roamer seems to be put together mostly with bronze or nickel-plated brass wood screws. Many are stripped or missing, and I am having a hard time finding stainless wood screws with phillips, oval head to replace as original.

Does anybody know where to get stainless woodscrews?

Alternately, will sheetmetal screws work as well? I can find plenty of them with original-looking heads.

Generally a sheet metal screw will have much less bite.

If McMaster Carr doesn't have it, I'd be surprised if they existed. I have yet to need a fastener that they didn't have.

One thing to note, the bronze fasteners are not Phillips, they are called Frearson and there is just enough difference that the Phillips bit strips out the slots. Boatbuilders have used these for years and we all try to take them out with a Phillips screwdriver. When you order from Jamestown be sure to get some bits at the same time..
