Has anyone any wintered at Genoa airport before. We are looking to winter at Genoa airport marina as it seems to be the cheapest in Italy. Pricing for a 25 meter boat in Italy has been from 1500 euros per month up to 3800 per month +20% vat and electric. Some crazy prices. I do have some better pricing in Spain but dont want to travel back there if i can help it.
Is this marina extra dirty from the jet fuel fallout and did you sleep ok at night as the marina is right on the side of the runway. I need a budget winter berth to keep the boss happy but not if i am scrubbing the boat every other day in freezing temps and not sleeping with 747's up and down runway all night.
Any advice on this marina or suggestions as to other cheaper ports in France ,Italy.
    Grazie

    Hi,

I dunno if 747's actually operate out of there but it has always been dirty and noisy.

Call the Pesto Bros in Genoa and ask them to see what they can do.

If you want cheaper may be you should check the Marina in Ostia Rome, and somewhere along the Fiumara in Fimicino River. If you can find a place there in Fiumicino it will be cheaper for sure.
Another name to check if you are willing to travel is Vibo Marina in the South of Italy just North of Reggio Calabria, and about 50 km from its airport. They have competitive prices for sure in there.
Yes marina prices have become ridiculously expensive in recent times here in the med. Considering the World has been two years in a recession that is sad indeed.

You can try Porto Turistico di Roma, in ostia di lido.

Were there for a few days to pickup/dropoff pax during the summer. very close to the airport, but didnt hear anything... its a large marina with some restaurants, and shops, not too fancy at all though... dont know cost off the top of my head... Stayed in Genoa Aeroporto a couple of years ago and I remember electricity was expensive as hell, no? (maybe i'm mistaken? it was also not very consistent, for our 25m boat, whenever we were on board we had gens running most of the time... although the crew did stay there for a little while later)...

Just as a note and recommendation. We have just spent 12 months at Marina Genoa aeroporto nov to november. Great marina. Calm with only a gentle roll in the biggest blows. Summer very calm light winds most of the time. Only had a few big blows 40 knots thru the winter. Girls in the office fantastic to help out with anything. Good competitive rates. All the trades and contractors you need. Shipyard 500 meters away if you require. No more dirty than any other european marina i have been in. The aircraft noise after a while you hardly notice. Car park at your berth. good strong electric @24c p/kwh. (Compare that to caribbean @60c p/kwh.) Genova i thought a fascinating city as well as a gateway to the north of italy for exploring. Genova climate not to hot not to cold. International airport 15 minute walk. Train station 20 minute walk with access to all of europe. Awesome coffee and Gelato, argubaly worlds best. Cheap crew living costs. Felt safe at all times, far enough away from the city to avoid all the dregs. Cheap rental cars 25 euro/day. Dirt cheap to run a mobile phone in italy 20c min worldwide,12c/m local. Best of all-Great access to winter skiing dozens of resorts within 2.5 hours drive.

The downside: if you dont have a car its 20 min walk to supermarket in Sestri. There is a small convenience store only in marina selling milk butter pasta cleaning products, water coke and beer. There is a bus to and from town but it stops at 7pm. We enjoyed the walk so didnt worry us to much.
No sullage pumpout facility. Trucks available but costly. We went for a seatrial to pumpout when needed. Marina Wifi had teething problems but i think now improved. Marina is a long way from nowhere. It is 20 minute into Sestri and then another 15 min train ride or 25 min bus ride in Genoa centro.
Genoa traffic can be horrific. We had a vespa scooter that is the way to go.
The Italians will grow on you,it just takes a while.
