Love that video! Kinda curious if we've got any more airheads on YF, besides myself.

My (younger) Brother has a Beech Bonanza (V-Tail, "Dr. Killer", I think they are affectionately named). B-35 I think it is. I do some flying with him. It's more of a hobby on his side, pleasure in the air so to speak. My Father flew for years while we were growing up. Grew up around planes, still ride in them, but leave the operating to the experts. (other than the occasional "hey, grab the stick for a few minutes while I get some more beers outta the ice chest!"

The OP video was very cool, and amazing piloting skills!

There's about a gazillion aviation websites. One of the best links I've seen was supplied by Kevin. Its an aviation directory...

Does anybody have a favorite Plane or Jet website for news, reviews, forums, etc?

Personally I don't follow any of the forums, I'm sure my Brother does. I'll check with him if you'd like Carl. I know there is a beechcraft forum he follows / participates in, however don't know the name of it.

I use controller.com a lot for lookups, and comps, research, etc. and a piece of software I have (spendy software at that) by Conklin & de Decker called Aircraft Cost Evaluator which give you a very granular report on all costs, figures, expenses, performance, etc. in real world numbers as well side by side comps to other planes.

Not looking to buy anything. That's someone elses reality. Besides, I like flying with my feet on the ground. ;)

    I'm just exploring...

I've got a Private pilot's license which is pretty basic, but enjoy aviation, and business aviation in particular. I work in aviation insurance and risk management for private/corporate jets currently and attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University up in Daytona Beach, FL. Flying and boating go hand in hand for quite a few people (both are expensive hobbies!). A couple resources to check out (google them) are Aviation International News and a blog written by a corporate pilot in Canada called Sulako's Blog. Might give some of the YF members a little bit of insight.

I forgot Flightaware which is a site where you can track aircraft as well as tune into discussions, similar to YF's forums. Flightaware.com

I knew Kyle's father Jimmy Franklin; perhaps the BEST airshow performer ever . If you guys are old enough to have been at airshows in the 1970's you may recall the late great Art Scholl doing a routine like Kyle's

I have been driving airplanes for a long time and it is inherited, my dad flew in WWII,Korea and So East Asia. By the way, I had an S-35 Bonanza and learned to fly in my dad's C45 Beech D-18S. I actually "commuted" from L.A. to Oklahoma for a while when I flew a Falcon 20.

After 9-11 I drifted away from recreational flying. I miss it and look forward to reacquainting myself with little airplanes sometime in the future.

You learned in a Beech 18..?

My hat off to you Sir: The B-18 is probably the trickiest plane I ever flew.

Here is the Pitts S2C I co-piloted about a year ago. I'm private, instrument, multi, seaplane. This Pitts S2C was the most exhilarating flight I have experienced. We did 5 g's on virtually every maneuver. Throw the stick to the stops and hold onto your gut! It was awesome!!

The 58 Baron the photo is taken from is mine. Flying is great.

I did solo a Cherokee 140 before the D18 but, I fondly recall sitting in my fathers lap at a very young age bending the ole twin Beech around. When you learn something at an early age with no other point of reference, it just is what it is. The Cessna's and Pipers I did my actual flight training in were a piece of cake!

Now a Pitt's S1C is the most demanding airplane I ever flew, not to stable by nature, short coupled with narrow gear. But extremely tossable. I would have a blast in that S2C above.
