For those that are considering Windows 11.

    Don’t be in a hurry.

I was shopping for a SSD (Solid State Drive) when I found an Amazon deal for a refurbished Win11 box with a SSD cheaper than just the drive. I went for it and have been hammering it out for a few days now.

I’m still dealing with my newly discovered identity (Caveman, thank you Ken), but from a guy that still misses the simplicity of the original Windows 3.1, the user GUI (graphic user interface) seems to have been going from bad to worse these many years.

I found a way to change some shells and can convert back to a quasi-classic menu (Win7) on the new computer, still sux..

The new box is way faster but why must I have to adapt to a new way of desk top computing. FM (Frack Me)

And for those wondering, it still does not run aps for our new boat gadgets.

Good luck to all that is forced (again) into another Micro Soft night mare.

I feel your pain, Ralph. I refuse to be a guinea pig for MS. Still on W7!

Is 11 the one where they've tried to make the desktop look and work like a Mac?

It was just a few years ago when I trashed my museum computer. Zenith 386 running 4 channel concurrent CPM.
When I started messing with this stuff, I thought that was the greatest desktop ever.
Yep, I miss the good ole days.

I recall, Mac still looks like Win 3.1? Been many years since I have looked at one, but that is how I remember it.
I do remember and think to this day, Mac innards and OS are still solid as a rock.

    An example;
On the win 11, I had to mod the system to get my right-click file functions back (IE copy/paste).
    What the ??

I never liked even the Win7 start menus (still better than Win11) so now I have short-cut icons all over the desktop.
    Kind of like Win 3.1

I know the SSD is faster, I can not tell you if the OS is faster though.

Win 3.1? Wow that brings back memories… It was state of the art and amazing back then… If I remember correctly it came on a bunch of floppies.

win98, Vista etc. Actually out ISIS monitoring computer on the 110 runs on one of them.

nowadays I do 99% of my computing on my phone but when my win10 laptop bites the dust I might go to a Mac.
