    Hi there,

We are currently staying at Sebastian, Central Florida and really enjoying the lifestyle here.

We thought we would zip over to The Bahamas for 2-3 days and have a couple questions that some of The Members here might be able to help with.

1 ... where is our nearest Airport servicing the Bahamas.
2 ... any suggestions on where we should go once we get there.
The Bahamas is one place we have never visited before

This post belongs in the general section I guess, but for some reason I was unable to post there.

    many thanks

    Southern Bahamas

With Georgetown (Exuma) for airport, some of us are ferrying our friends and family first to Long Island, then to the less accessible Jumentos and Ragged Islands. Enjoying the remoteness!

What are you looking for as far as accommodations?

And what kind of things are you looking to do while there?

The answers to these questions can make a big difference in where you should go.

2-3 days isn't much time. So I'm inclined to say Bimini, Harbour Island, Marsh Harbour in the Abacos or perhaps Nassau if you want the most night life.

Flying all the way to Georgetown or even Staniel Cay would be a waste of time for just 2-3 days IMO.

Many thanks for all your input ... it is clear we are not going to achieve anything worth while in 2-3 days.

So now Management informs me that we will add in a Bahamian charter
to our next trip through Miami.
This is a much better plan indeed

Have you gotten to check out the Exumas north of you? Sampson Cay is a beautiful spot, but from Staniel Cay north to Compass Cay it is very beautiful and there are a lot of beautiful protected anchorages as well.

I second Capt J, but if it's only 2 or 3 days I'd fly into Staniel Cay, hang out there and go snorkeling. Thunderball cave is a very fun place to snorkel and Staniel is a great place.

You can even take a little boat around the corner and feed the Beach Piggies! Bring carrots! :)
