After watching a recent episode of Top Gear, where they were asking who had made the largest amount of Great Cars [Public vote was ford, while the shows opinion was Lancia] This started me thinking, what do people think makes a great yacht? Not just because its the best or the biggest, but great, and for different reasons. So, I’d love to hear your 5 attributes for what makes a great yacht, and your example of a great yacht. Hopefully this won't turn into a "thats not a great yacht" and "they build a crap boat" thread, but a healthy forum [guess there's a clue in the site name isn't there] Looking forward to your thoughts! My 5 Attributes to What Makes a Great Yacht Groundbreaking History/Legacy Longevity Not being perfect Evokes Emotion My example of a great yacht: Kingdom 5KR, ex Nabila, Trump Princess.
A great yacht is like a beautiful woman. You can't necessarily define the individual elements or parameters, but you sure know her when you see her.
I been off shore a lot.. And what I like the best is... Let's get this vessel back to shore,, and fast...!! when all is not going to plan..!
My interpretation of what SeaEric said is--the perfect boat for you, like the perfect car or the perfect is one who should take your breath away. You look forward to seeing her and when you leave her it saddens you. IMHO the five attributes would be... quality build that will take a heavy sea timeless design (i.e. Westport, not Lazarra) efficient hull interior layout quality of furnishings
