These two units are in the electronics closet on my sailboat. At one time, they may have been used for electronic noise suppression, but now I have no idea if they are needed. Can anyone confirm their function??? Thanks.
^that^ It looks like a power inverter possible, but a couple of screws and a look on the back will tell you everything you need to know. What mfg of boat? What / where do wires go to and from? They don't appear to be connected now? (or at least from the limited view in your image posted.)
It is a power transistor and that points toward the item being a power supply or regulator of some sort.
All good ideas - thanks. I'll try to take a closer look at the units this weekend, as my desire is to remove them if no longer needed. Boat is a Swan 57 sloop. Thanks again.
The units have labels which read something like this: Blaupunkt Elektronischar Sbgunugstailer If I Google that last word, it suggests "Spannungsteiler" which turns out to be some sort of voltage divider. I also discovered that if I pull off the ground wire from the units, the (new) VHF radio will not power on so I assume these units are in the electrical return path for some reason. Think this is going to wind up being another electrical mystery to me. Thanks.
She is a 24v boat, with a couple or 12v circuits for electronics. I believe this is a 12v circuit as the old Sailor VHF radio had it own, dedicated, 24v to 12v converter.
It's two blocks of C4, when pirates attack you jump over the boat push the remote, and blow them up...then use their boat to get back to the shore....what the hell? It's a blowboat who cares?
Since there are two, take one with you and some fishing equipment. Why? The pirate boat may not have a function galley or food. Hint: Use the C-4 to cook the daily catch. Yum, Yum.
ROFLMAO! Thanks Old Phart...I really needed a good laugh today! That's funny stuff...I don't care who you are!
