WESTPORT MARKS EUROPEAN DEBUT AT MONACO SHOW Westport Shipyards came to this year’s Monaco Yacht Show to strengthen their presence in the European market. As a result of the show, the Washington-based builder had logged the sale of a 112’ raised pilothouse yacht to an overseas owner and had captured the attention of many others from around the globe. Central to Westport’s participation at the 15th edition of the Monte Carlo event was a Westport 130 tri-deck motoryacht, on display among the approximately 90 other yachts in attendance. Phil Purcell, Westport’s vice president of sales, noted that favorable circumstances contributed to the success of Westport’s initiative at the show. “The continuing strength of the Euro makes this an opportune time for us to be at the Monaco show,” he said. “Equally important was the impression the Westport 130 made on a very knowledgeable, highly qualified body of attendees, in direct comparison with many of the most respected European builders.” Also of importance to many of the prospective owners who visited the 130, Purcell added, was Westport’s record of building high-quality yachts in series, using advanced process engineering to deliver vessels to their owners on time and on budget. “The 130 offered clear evidence,” said Purcell, “of Westport’s ability to build yachts that equal or exceed industry standards. In doing so, it has paved the way for our new 50 Meter tri-deck, which we plan to exhibit in Europe next year.” Purcell also noted that Westport’s success at the 2005 Monaco show has led the builder to contemplate participation in other international shows. The Westport 130 at the Monaco Yacht Show, presented through the courtesy of its European owner, has been in use in the Mediterranean since its arrival here. With exterior styling and arrangement by Gregory Marshall, the 130 offers accommodations for ten in the owner’s party: a master suite forward on the main deck, two VIP and two guest staterooms. Social areas include a large main-deck saloon, ten-place dining room, and sky lounge with bar opening to an exterior lounge area with jetted tub. With its twin 2735-h.p. MTU diesels, the Westport 130 cruises around 24 knots, with a top speed around 27 knots. About Westport...
