Volvo Penta EDC failed to capture both engines

    2002 Volvo Penta EDC controls at inside helm and flybridge. Today it failed to gain control of both engines on the flybridge after pressing the "key" button. This has happened intermittently over the last year or so, but today is the first time I could not gain control. When I tried to gain control at the fly bridge it only confirmed control on the port side. I tried stopping/restarting the engines but no luck. All controls were in Neutral. Curious if anyone has experienced troubleshooting a similar problem.
