Did anyone on YF attend this year? I'd love to see photos. Carl, Tom, Maldwin?

I was at vintage Weekend, and snapped a few IPhone shots which are probably not good enough to post, but I will try and get some others. The 58 ft Trumpy SOMERSET,EX SPINDLE won the John Trumpy award, while HONEY FITZ won People's choice. Spirit of Tradition was awarded to POSH, the beautiful 1937 Huskins 52 footer designed by John Hacker. The restoration award went to CIGARETTE, the 25 ft Formula built in 1963 for Don Arronow, sold to a friend of his, who sold her for a dollar to his best friend who restored and showed her. There was also a charming 43 ft Palmer Johnson motor sailer, 3 Ryboviches, Jim Moores' beautiful Trumpy AURORA, and countless more.
    Best,
    Maldwin

I was just at Ocean Reef, but did not attend the festivities. I ran a yacht down there on Thursday for an owner and ran it back yesterday (Monday). I did see a restored DC 3 flying around a few times before landing as well as several vintage wood yachts, of which I have a few very informal pictures, which I'll try to post. The Marina was darn near completely full on Thursday, albeit with mostly non-vintage yachts.

    Eric,

I was unable to attend. Home sick last week with a cold that resulted in laryngitis. I lost my voice, but I can still speak digitally.

On that note, because you used a very descriptive title, including all the words that are associated with the event, Google picked up the thread and indexed it properly. A search for "Vintage Weekend 2012 at Ocean Reef Club" resulted in a top 3 placement on the first page of results, within a couple hours of your posting...

Now other people with a serious interest who are searching the web will find Maldwin's shots and hopefully join the discussion. Had you posted "Old Boats 2012 in Key Largo" or some lame, non-descriptive title like most newbies who think it's cool to post a "leader" title to arouse curiosity, but is in no-way associated with the thread content, then we'd have just another useless link in Google.

Sorry to derail this thread. I spent the weekend cleaning the YF house, sorta speak.

Glad I could help with the Google search results. I try to make my forum postings clear as to the subject. I'm looking forward to seeing Maldwin's and other photos of the event.
