I want to buy this Viking 41C, but it doesnt have a transon door. Do you know if it was an option and there might be some out there, or would it damage the structural stability to have one installed??

    Doug,

I've corrected the word 'transom' in your title. Proper spelling is critical to indexing, as well as keyword searches. There is no such thing as a 'transon'.

You should be able to have one installed and have a structurally sound transom.....

    Transom door

Looked into having a transom door/gate fabricated and installed (1-2 years ago). Three seperate quotes all being in the $10K range. Significant mods are required to maintain structural integrity plus fabricating the parts to make it look & function right. I chose not to pursue this idea.

A quality block and tackle anchored to the ladder to the bridge or other strong point would work in a pinch
