I didn't want to hijack the America's Cup thread by posting there, and I don't want to start a political thread although it begs for it, but I think this is a fairly dramatic new policy: https://plus.ibinews.com/article/Aq...sailboat_racing_after_calif/?nsl=CBWwRJMHZAVX Judy
Over a decade ago the Sidney Hobart race which suffered many fataliities went through a large amount of introspection. As I read the article for the recent SF tragedy I can see logic in spending some time insuring future offshore races in this area of CA are as safe as possible. Five pleasure boaters perishing plus the CG also forced going into harms way is serious business. The Farralons can get very nasty, just ask the commercial fishermen who have plied those waters for well over 150 years.
