Trinity Press Release: No Damage From Hurricane Gustav

Trinity Yachts happily reports no damage at the Gulfport shipyard and minimal damage at the New Orleans Shipyard.

Gulfport, Mississippi – September 2nd, 2008 – Trinity Yachts, L.L.C., the largest custom yacht builder in the U.S., reported that there was no damage at their Gulfport, Mississippi shipyard and the yard is at full operation. The shipyard in New Orleans, Louisiana did receive minimum damage from some of the winds and water, but the operations will be back to full production on Friday, September 5th.

Hurricane Gustav made landfall slightly to the west of New Orleans and with the improvements to the levee system since Katrina, the expected damage was much less to the New Orleans area. With the exception of the interruption of some utilities, most of the city and the shipyard at the industrial canal of New Orleans sustained very minor damage.

According to Felix Sabates, Chairman, “We are very relieved not to have had to go through the headaches of Katrina again, despite the little bit of damage at our New Orleans shipyard, we are back to full production at Gulfport and will be back in full production on Friday at the New Orleans yard. Our plans of continued growth and expansion for 2008/09 are still on track as originally expected.”

Sabates continued, “The experience of weathering hurricane Katrina three years ago was invaluable and I have to say a word of thanks to our employees who executed our new and improved emergency plans for such future issues. Once these were implemented, we had a very good starting point with which to get the two Trinity shipyards back in full operation quickly.”
