I posted this question in the main area but thought it may get more response just amount Luhrs owners. Has anyone ever had to change the trim tab actuators on a 32 open. Both of mine have stopped working and are in the up position so you can not see the actuator since they are in a pocket. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

    Bennett or Insta-Trim?

    Working before?
    Fuses checked?
    Auto return by-passed?
    Is "key on" required?

To the actuator (Lenco) or pump (Bennett or Insta-Trim)?
Pig tail connections to a Bennett or Insta-Trim pump can be a challenge with miss leading results.

Bennett or Insta-Trim pumps are serviceable. The motor and valves are field replaceable.
However, My preference lately is to replace the whole darn pump assembly, plug & play.

Thanks for the info. As best can tell without actually seeing the actuator they are Lenco tabs.. These actuators are in a pocket is why I haven’t been able to view them. Have you ever had to lower the planes from a closed position in this situation? I hesitate prying them open. Once pulled perhaps I will have a better understanding.

Just finished working on my Lil Boot Lencos.
No interior pump, electric motors in the ram itself.
Unlike the early dash switches Lenco offered, the last Carling styled switches look like they will last longer.

The early dash switches had a micro plug that would fall out of position from the back of it.
They also had a remote relay box that if installed wrong (this side up), could fill with water (condensation).
Somewhere is the plain black, round wire coming up from the rams. White & black leads inside. Reversing motors so to need to worry about + & -.
Try your 12Vdc pig tails here.

    When did they fail?
    Both of them?
    Ever work?

Both have been working until recently. I noticed the port tab did not work and was in the up position. Starboard works fine

    Just back in.
The ole hydraulic tabs you could just pull town. I've never pulled on a Lenco tab.
Maybe somebody else can chime in a let us know if that is doable.

At least, there should be enough room to un-screw the bottom of the ram from the tab and get the tab out of the way.

These days, Lenco ram replacement is a bit complicated. Seems 6 or 8 models are made just for tabs.

I got lucky, only one ram as ugly as mine. Replaced, wired and works well. On a note, white/black wires were bass/ackwards.
Just took an extra second to correct.
