Shopping list had three options, Beneteau, Grand Banks and Nordhavn. The Swift trawler 42 is a nice one. Lots of space and a good price, at least here in Europe. Interior is nicely done, not too fancy but all you need. Grand Banks 41EU. Hitech trawler in a classical design. You almost get two Beneteaus for the price of the GrandBanks. Nordhavns 43 is a sure winner if you want to survive global warming. But its cramped, and felt like a submarine inside. No wonder Nordhavn dont show people aboard the 43 in the brochure.
Some out of budget trawlers... Selene 59. Now with bowling lane inside. Does it come i Yellow? Yes it does! What did i learn from this trip? That my wife thinks that trawlers is for the elderly and that i should buy a Cranchi! Last time i go for a younger wife!!!
Every fibre in my body says 'Don't like the Bennie, don't like the Bennie' but you know what, thats the one that appeals. Who'd have thunk it!
Yeah, the Benetau is more to budget, and it does have the speed advantage also. There is quite a number of used ones on the market as well, even found a demo boat with more than 35% off the original price, fully equipped. If i win the lottery/sell my company it will of course be one of the Bandidos. I could not see the interior as you had to look like the Monopoly guy to be let in at drettmars stand. They both got sold thou i heard. Would love to see a YF feature on the Bandidos, their web site is very sparse, but the boats really looked great. On another note, i really recommend Düsseldorf as a tourist destination. We stayed for five days. The shopping is great, food is excellent and has reat variety and people is very nice and friendly. And german beer sure is the nectar of the gods!
I've spent a bit of time on the Beneteau Swift Trawler. It's fast, quite for a trawler, and well put together for a boat that size. Seemed very predictable in the open water and comfortable for 5 people knocking around the salon. Open, clean, and functional.
could you tell me what brand the grey and yellow trawlers are? to my eye they're the best looking ones. Mike
Hi, I think they are from here. http://www.drettmann-yachting.com/en/bandidoyachts/index.html I had a quick look at their product line and have to say their guest to crew numbers need some revision to put it mildly on the ones I looked at.
I looked at their 130. Looks like crew for 8 (or 7, single headed in the Captains quarters). What do you like / dislike about that? On the 148 and 170 I could see that those were perhaps minimal crew.
Hi, I only looked at the two bigger ones, I looked again and see that some of the little ones seem to see crew as an extra.
And to sum up this very old thread. This week this "dreamer" took ownership of a Swift Trawler 34! So i will probably change my forum status from lurker to "newbie with stupid questions that annoys all the old salty dogs". In the end i think i made a good decision. Wife wanted a "new" boat. I wanted something big enough to do some "mini-passagemaking" and learning all the ropes, but small enough for me to be able to handle as a newbie.
