I am starting this thread in response to K1Wi on another thread. Lots of possible topics here for the subjects he addresses. For an easy and happy one, K1W1 said he was told he had problems with immigration because he bought his ticket on-line. I use a travel agency geared for the marine industry. They're not always the cheapest, but the tickets are changeable and refundable without penalty. Nice to be able to change your date or point of departure or return with flexibility as to the yacht's itinerary. Global Marine Travel. No personal interest, just satisfied longtime customer. Judy
The jackboots must be really busy these days because about 30 percent of all airline tickets are sold online now and the percentage is rising rapidly.
My co-broker flew to Amsterdam last week to see a new boat line we're representing. He flew home on NW/Delta 253, the same flight one week earlier than the one where the passenger this Thursday was apprehended for trying to set off an explosive on approach to Detroit. Howard had commented on his return (Amsterdam/Detroit/Miami) that security was tight in Amsterdam and he and his carry-on went through Xray twice. Got home and realized he had bottles of juice and other liquids in his carry-on that he had forgotten to dump before check-in. No surprise here that a terrorist was able to board in Amsterdam with liquids for a hot cocktail. Obviously it was only perceived tight security. Judy
Here as well, no personal interest except a satisfied customer. I get the same or better prices on last minute fully refundable/rebookable fares as any other methods finds me 30 days advance non refundable.
