    Changes have taken place in Turkish Transit Logs. When entering Turkey one has to obtain a Transit Log. Previously one could this oneself but now it seems that one has to have an agent. This is where the con comes in, as there is no government price guide line on this and agents can charge what they like. The tonnage charge now starts at zero up to 50 tons is 45TL and the cost of Transit Log is another 45 TL The four known agents in Fethiye, three were charging $100 or 75 Euros and one was charging 50 TL (although they expect you to do some work yourself) this is on top of the original costs. When one then books out to leave Turkey there is a further charge of the same amount by the agents.

    So what sort of yacht do you have? I shouldn't think costs would bother you!!!

    Hi,

    I don't own a yacht myself but am involved in the oversight and operation of a couple of Motor Yachts whose GT is around 2000.

    Sometimes one finds that these "fees" can increase exponentially. Therefore it would be handy to know what to expect prior to arriving there expecting things to be as they were.

    I was once on a boat that arrived in Callao port where one of the first questions asked of the master when clearing in was. Does the Owner own a bank?

    Then - Does he work for a bank?

    Needless to say hours and hours were wasted and there was a lot of huffing and puffing before around USD 500 changed hands- all this on a 16m sail boat!

    Large yacht entry fees in Turkey

    Hi,

    regarding entry/exit formality fees for large yachts in Turkey, I called a friend working for a major yachting agency here, who replied they would charge 1000 euros for a yacht of aprox. 2000 GT; that's the agency's fee only, then there are the "expenses".

    expenses include purchase of transit log ( around 50 euros), lighthouse and harbour dues, and pilotage. I don't have any official figures for lighthouse and harbour dues; but the highest expense item here is the pilotage fees, which are as follows for the port of Marmaris:

    150-300 GT : 180 usd
    301-500 GT : 220 usd
    501-1000 GT : 400 usd
    1000 GT+ : 900 usd

    It should be added that pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 300 GT in most other ports.

    A while back someone on another thread suggested creating a cruising guide of the US east coast. Of course that's been done and done. However, it would probably be a great idea to do a list of pilotage and "gift" fees in all major areas.
