Does anyone have any experience with the synthetic teak and dogs? We are considering covering the cockpit and we are concerned that the dog's nails will scratch it up. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I donĀ“t think it will be a problem. Should the dog make some scratches you can sand it to the right look again.

Hello Bob, Welcome to YachtForums. I agree with Lars. Its pretty tough stuff. I have Flexiteek on my boat and I like it a lot. I had it down for two years before I hit it with sandpaper. A sanding refreshed the surface to like new. I have also used a rough 3M type synthetic scrubbing pad on it with Simple Green to do a deep cleaning. It seems that the only enemy to this surface is Acetone, which will melt it.

    Greetings,
On a somewhat related note, I've heard the synthetic teak decks can get very hot. Keep in mind your dog's "tootsies".

My synthetic teak deck is no hotter than the original Chris Craft taupe color decking which is adjacent.
