Well we found a boat we like, a good price, paying cash. We’re trying to get this deal done. Broker says first available time for the seller to get boat to our survey is three weeks. Does that seem excessive or am I just being impatient? It doesn’t seem like the seller or broker is very accommodating? When I found a buyer for mine I did everything possible to please the buyer.
Instinctive reaction to what you wrote is that the seller is busy repairing the item desirous of you not discovering, and time is needed for that repair.
It is a bit odd for a seller to delay survey. Usually the problem is availability if the surveyors. What is the acceptance deadline in the contract? ask to see the boat again in a week or two, that may give you an idea of what’s going on
Is it possible the boat is winterized or in winter lay up and seller needs time to reactivate it? Can’t understand why they wouldn’t simply disclose this if this was the case though. Maybe seller is out of town for awhile? What is the reason they have given you when you asked why so long?
Anyone you know that is near the boat , that can check on it, walk by it, keep on eye on it . On the down low. And report back to you? It's a bummer I know to have to go to so much, but if checks all your boxes , that's something you might have to do. Sure seems to me they have to do things to it, to get it ready for you and the survey. But they should come forth and not be so closed lipped. You need an explanation. Yes, three weeks is a long time.
We found out the owner is an out of town owner, coming back just before the survey. I’ll have to be patient, all good things come to those who wait!!! We’ll see?
