Clearly there was an issue with the yacht's crew. They should have deployed many, many, many more fenders.

So you guys know big boats. How the heck does something like that "just happen"?

It can and does happen also with much smaller boats.
Not sure if the reasons are similar, but based on the above photos alone, the accident in Anacortes of some years ago, upon launch of a brand new Northern Marine 85', definitely springs to mind...

Where are her anchors? Was this during a refit? Lightered boat then somebody pumped the bilges

OP states "During Haulout on the Slipway".... this would suggest improper mounting on whatever method was being used to get it on the hard.....

Correct, the incident happened while she was being pulled on the slipway to be dry docked for a regular hull service. The yacht started listing to starboard until it capsized.

I wasn't aware of that, but it makes sense, from what can be seen in the above photos.
And is consistent with my memories of the Northern Marine accident, though in that case it happened upon launch.

Any Updates? I'm sure she is up, but the Soap Opera and finger pointing has to be entertaining...

Yes it did. We learned it s a “luxury liner” and we also leaned it “damaged a nearby shipyard”

    journalism is dead
