Hello all, i was looking at pictures of Le Grand Bleu and noticed that all the tenders and toys were stored on the side and in the back of the vessel where hatches open to let these toys in. But my question is, is there a certain size of a vessel where that type of "below deck storage" comes into play as opposed to on deck or is it just how the boat is made?
Well, like AMG said, it can be found on boats from 50 or 60' on up. The problem is that below deck storage takes up space that would normally be used for living quarters. When you get into megayachts, some have enough space that it doesn't matter if you take up 30' in length of the stern to have a garage. It also depends on the owners usage, some owners would prefer more clean deck space for entertaining instead of having it covered with tenders and water toys and are willing to sacrifice interior space to create an interior space for the toys to reside.
Agreed about, that it takes very much space, but have you got an regatta sailing yacht, so it is better that the tender isn't on the deck. Maybe that it is the best compromise to have an good tender to transport him.
