Recently entered into contract to purchase a quality built 30 year old Dutch steel hulled motor yacht. Although boat was refit in 2007, has had limited maintenance and no use for last five years. Have concerns about surveyor being able to discover all corrosion. Now for THE QUESTION; Using a good surveyor, is it possible to reliably discover all hull corrosion issues? If not all issues, at least major issues? My ultimate fear would be hidden damage continuing to fester undiscovered. Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, providing all bilges are accessible and the hull is audio gauged properly.

I would recommend having the tanks emptied and inspected.

I might be familiar with this boat. If you want, send me a pm and I'll let you know if it is one on which I have had first-hand experience.
