Can anyone tell me what this large single masted yacht seen off Falmouth last week is please? Photo should be attached, thanks Ian F
Thanks for that. As you may guess I'm a bit of a novice here, and I had never seen anything quite like this yacht. I live near the Forth in Scotland where sailing boats tend to be smaller and overshadowed by the tankers/naval ships etc. Ian F.
Stay with this site, you'll read about some really good stuff. Use the search icon and have a mooch around. I did a link yesterday that may give you an idea of what these boats look like under sail. http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/boat-shows-yacht-watching/18971-beken-cowes-photos.html
If you are not accustomed to seeing these yachts you could easily mistake her for "FireFly". They both have black hulls and black masts and booms. Of course "Lionheart" is larger and has two deckhouses. Two pics for comparison.
As the only 2 J-Class yachts with black masts and that Lionheart was in Falmouth last week, from the photo I kind of took it was that one, I couldn't see any deckhouses at all, just the notch in the bow. My bad.
No I believe you are right on the initial picture, that looks to be "Lionheart". I just showed the two photos of the two yachts in question to show how they could easily be taken for the other, that's all.
