The John Sainsborough Lejuez Bridge (Simpson Bay Bridge) is closed while a bearing is replaced. The bearing and a crew arrived Thursday afternoon and as of 8AM today they are erecting scaffolding to "support" the bridge while the bearing is replaced. To be completed this weekend????
A FEW Megayachts are in the Lagoon and some cruisers.

The French side bridge, while not as wide or deep a draft, is operating normally.

Do I understand correctly that the Simpson Bay Bridge was widened a few years ago following the request of the crew/owner of Limitless, to allow her to come inside?

Maybe its just one of those amateur rumours, Im sorry if Im propagating it...

Leslie Wexner did offer to replace/widen the bridge years ago. But with the number of 200 foot plus yachts the government, with some local lobbying, decided to "widen" the bridge. The existing bridge was extended by about 18 feet to it's current 56.5 feet. Additional counter weights and "arm" extensions were added.

Here's the John Sainsborough Lejuez Bridge in Simspon Bay, Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles being repaired. The main bearings were removed this AM and the bridge should resume normal operations in a day or two.

I remember looking at the old bridge and seeing every color paint ever used to paint a boats haul smeared all over the concrete sturcture. Seeing how many of some ones did mot have a good day crossing the bridge. How's this bridge doing as far as battle scares and people getting through?
I have yet to see it for myself.
