I have a live aboard 43' Vista Motor Yacht, which has a single 50 ampere 220 volt service. I had no problem with my Shore Power for years, while I was in the water. Pulled the boat last week for routine maintenance. I was able to hook up to a full electrical service, in dry dock. This was I can keep my chest freezer, refrigerator, battery charger & work power going. When I first hooked it up, one phase was reading 120 volt the other was reading 150 volt. I check the voltage at the source(panel), both phases read 120 volts. I turned the fluorescent lights on in my stateroom, they got real bright & the ballast smoked. I immediately killed all the power to the yacht. Has anyone had a similar situation? Looking for advice. Capt. Bert
Are you feeding transformers with the 220 or do you really have 50Amp - 120/240v cable feeding the yacht?? If transformer I would start looking there?
