my engine dies sometimes when i move from reverse to neutral. the nut on the control cable is loose, how do i adjust it to stop the problem?
Knowing engine and trans would help. Problem is not necessarily in the cable. In a diesel the problem could be the governor not set correctly or the stop linkage going to the injector pump.
What engine do you have? What type/brand of cable. Usually if a control cable has an adjustment nut on it, it has two nuts. If it's a gas inboard, they usually have an adjustment on the engine or engine distributor/coil that retards timing when the motor is shifted and that probably needs adjustment.
