How do you secure your spare props?

Cross 2x4s and run a dowel through.

In the lazerette with all thread and delron/delrin or a marine plastic inserted into the hub and secured. Or in a spare prop box on deck.

Not sure I understand what your saying here. You cross two 2x4's and run a dowel the size of the shaft through the 2x4's? What if the shaft size is 2.5". Know I am missing something.

This way is preferable. I think you have enough room on the 43' Cabo to put them in the laz outbound of the stringers if I remember correctly. Have a piece of all thread secured to the hull, and then a dowel in the middle of the prop and then a nut that goes down on the allthread.

Cut (2) 2x4s to size. On the 4" sides cut a mortise and tenon and join them to lay in an cross. Cut a 2" hole through the middle and slide through a 2" dowel. However, I'm an old DIY guy. The store bought is easier for a couple hundred $.

    Capt J,
Yes I think there might be enough room in the laz on each side of the stringer. Will check. How is the best way to have all thread rod attached to the hull? Should the all thread rod go through the center of the dowel and then tightened down?

I've seen where the alltread is attached to a round flat piece of wood or coring material and then that is glassed over to the hull. The dowel should fit over the allthread, then I've seen they take a nut and weld it on a flat piece of stainless, sort of like a handle........check out a searay if you can, the factory secures the spare props like this..........
