Seaton Yachts are located at the Newport Shipyard in Newport R.I. They concentrate on building rugged ocean-going yachts with the ability to provide comfort in every instance. Their main forte is in the construction of trawler and expedition styled yachts. For this purpose, the Seaton 78’ Expedition will be examined. The outward appearance of the Seaton 78’ Expedition is appealing and shows a sense of ruggedness. It warrants the attention of the unsuspected onlooker to wow at the graceful and classic lines of the design. The Seaton 78’ is just shy of 78 feet long on deck length. However, she has an overall length of 79.8 feet. She carries a beam of 22.2 feet and a draught of 7 feet. With these general dimensions, she is expected to have a credible performance package.

The Seaton 78’ is an endurance athlete. If needed, she can rack up over 3,500 NM at a speed of 10 knots. If a slightly faster speed is required, her range can still exceed the 2,000 NM barrier. With over 6,500 gallons of fuel onboard at the captain’s disposal and great fuel economy the phenomenal range characteristics can be realized. With the performance of the 78’ known, guests can be rest assured that a pleasurable time will be had.

The Lower-Deck comprises of two main sections, the engine room and accommodation. The engine room resides to the aft of the yacht meanwhile the main accommodation is located to the fore of this position. The accommodation of the Lower-Deck consists of guest and crew spaces. The Master stateroom is located in front of the engine room. This room features a very large double bed, ensuite bathroom and a bounty of storage. The ensuite features a double vanity sink, toilet facility and shower. To the fore, in the bow, there is guest accommodation that can be treated as a VIP-type suite. It too features a large double bed, closet storage on both the port and starboard sides. A bathroom abounds with toilet facility, stand-up shower and a single vanity. The rest of the accommodation is taken up with guest and crew rooms. All feature double beds and ensuite facilities. An interior stairs takes guests up to the Main-Deck.

The Main-Deck is where the action is located. This deck comes complete with large saloon, galley, washroom, aft outdoor space and fore tender spaces. The plan of the salon is simple and this concept gives the space and uncluttered feel. ‘L’ shaped and straight seating with wooden coffee tables encourage guests to patronize the space. To the fore of this space is the galley on the port side. The galley comes with 4 heated-station cook top with counter spaces and double sink. Adjacent to this on the starboard side is the washroom with single vanity and toilet facility. Out door to the fore is a large region for storing tenders. On the opposite end of the yacht is the aft outdoor space, characterized by seating and open deck space.

One deck up, guests will find the Fly-Bridge and Pilot house Decks. Up here, the pilot house and gathering spaces are located. The pilot house has two navigator chairs and a fore dash, clad with the latest navigational and safety screens and equipment. To the aft of this space, is an indoor gathering region that can double as a mini- sky lounge.

The Seaton 78’ Expedition is a tough and rugged looking trawler/expedition yacht. It has range, a mean looking bow, tender storage and great accommodation and public spaces.
