Help ! We have a large aluminuin yacht and we have had problems with our gray water pump.
We have replaced the pump and all is okay , but the interior smells of old wet rags, I wanted to disinfect the bilges with chlorine but have been warned off using chlorine

"because it will eat the hull ,just like copper does"

    TRUE or FALSE

    Thanks for the help

Only to a minor degree if the bilges remain wet. if they are really clean and dry then you will have no problem

Orange flavoured bilge cleaner or diliuted washing up liquid works.

    Hello,
I would like to know the same thing.

I was told that pine cleaner was O.K. to use but I am not sure on that either.

I used a large amount of dish washing liquid and it helped some but I put a lot of fresh water through each compartment and I then tool all of the water out and dryed it. ( a very big project), even if it doesn't work, it looks very nice and I know more about the boat than I did before I did it.

PLEASE, If you find out about the bleach, etc. Let me know.

You know that is the best way to get to know a boat. And you get to find all the stuff that just is not right.
