Thinking of using 6CTA's 425HP to cruise for extrended periods at hull speed 8 to 10 Knots, estimating 1000 RPM. Any downside? Also, what is est full usage for 50,000 lb boat?

    Hi,

Find the propellor curve for that engine and see where the fuel burn line is at 1000 rpm, multiply it by the number of engines and you will have a calculated answer. There will no doubt be some difference when the general condition of the vessel and it's appendages are allowed for.

I don't know for certain, but based upon the HP and RPM, they should burn 6 gallons an hour at 1000rpms for both engines.
