I don't have the heart to post the pictures here.

I don't agree in defining as "ridiculous" the color of Cavalli's yacht. A person on his position uses the yacht also for PR and must reflect the style of the owner.

Just take a look a D&G Codecasa yacht "Regina D'Italia" or Armani "Main". They all sport features out of the ordinary so that people talk about them. just as their business is based up: notoriety.

BTW, I hate it when they publish photos and not double checking: the first photo on the link is indeed Cavalli's Baglietto yacht. The second photo is a "wanna-be" look-alike yacht a.k.a. Conam 75 WideBody build for a Est-European client by Rodriquez Shipyards. Nothing to do with the Baglietto...

They don't even look close other than the color. Many clear differences between the 2.

Either the tooling is very, very good, or the fairing crew deserves a raise.

Color and paintwork are subjective. Personally, I don't care for flip-flop 'blurple' on a boat, none-the-less a yacht. It seems best left to smaller items, such as custom motorcycle finishes. In the case of Cavalli's yacht, I commend him. He dared to be different. And as MedRascal said, he created a certain notoriety. For a businessman, that's smart marketing.

I'm a big fan of anyone who dares to splash color on these giant floating canvasses. Go-fast boats have successfully crossed over, so maybe it's time for our supersize Clorox bottles to have some character. Personally, I've always liked abstract art, especially when it graces something mechanical. While yacht critics may disagree - and I'm certainly no art aficionado - I really like "JoyMe" in the attached pic.

Do they have Rice Citations for yachts? If so, these two gems certainly deserve them.

Guess that's a way to get noticed without buying a bigger boat. Can only imagine the clothes he buys for his wife. Looks light a runner up for the rogue's thread to me. Klass.

Hey, nothing wrong with that colour at all. My VW Bug trike was a similar shade of puce with glittery bits in it.

It was the '80s after all. :D

Where do I sign up for the brigade? That paint job screams lack of self-confidence and over-compensation. Years ago a girl I knew did an unscientific lower level survey of guys with hot cars. Most came up short. As a dinner yacht it might not be too bad.

I fail to see how it can be viewed as a lack of self confidence there is no basis for that thesis what so ever .

Just because the owner liked a different colour from the norm fair play it doesn't mean that people who haven't met him/her should judge him/her any differently ..

Just citing and interesting unscientifuc study. My own unscientific study has shown me that those who scream 'look at me' the loudest really have the least worth paying attention to.

Colin, it's a fact of life that we're judged by others based on how we dress, how we live, the cars we drive, the boats we own, the women we marry etc.

I'm with NYCAP on this....it's like watching a fat lady with hair dyed brilliant red or blue as she waddles down the street. Some may love the look. Me, not so much.

Let's look at the overall picture. The fact that you own one of these is enough of to calm any ego issues and tells the world (and the ladies) you've made it. When you pull into a port looking like this boat, it shows you are willing to go way outside the box and not stick with the beloved mattahorn white. I see no problems with something a little on the wild side, be it a crazy Harley paint job or on a mega yacht.

I know several people who have "made it", but have zero taste, zero class and zero humanity. Lest we forget Bernie Madoff. Money is a very short measuring stick.

    Color

Paint can be an effective way to camouflage unfortunate design cues that would otherwise be difficult to change structurally. This is especially prevalent on some of the floating beer cans out there. :D

As for Madoff - he seemed to have taste but little else... Agreed CAP.

Art is always in the eye of the beholder....
