Not sure if this is old news but I just found out that Google Earth now has Hi-Res shots of most of the Caribbean islands. I've been flying around on there for hours. In the shots of St.Maarten, most of the yachts have left. I did find this one anchored in Simpson Bay,,, could this be
Rising Sun. I have seen shots of it anchored in that position.

Doesn't look like it. Yacht in satellite photo looks much smaller, and has a small boat over the stern.

    Steve,

I took a flight this morning, via GE airlines. I spotted your yacht and measured it against some of the other yachts in the harbor. According to GE's tool, the yacht in question is 236' long. In contrast, the largest yacht in the harbor was 176' in length (+/-).

I questioned the accuracy of the tool, so I flew over to the airport and spotted a Cessna Citation. Because the main wing isn’t swept on CJ’s, it stood out in comparison to other corporate jets on the tarmac. GE's tool indicated the fuselage length was about 58 feet. The actual length of the first generation Citation (CJ-1) is around 42 feet, tip to tail. Maybe this was a newer, larger Citation on the tarmac? Whatever the case, there appears to be a 25% discrepancy.

Rising Sun is 452 feet in length. If we add the 25% discrepancy to the length indicated by GE of your yacht in Simpson Bay… that would be 295 feet. We’re still over 155’ short of Rising Sun.

So... is this Rising Sun in Simpson Bay? I can't say for sure, but outside of the stale peanuts and a stewardess with the disposition of an untipped waitress… I enjoyed my flight on GE this morning. ;)

wow you have some serious toys,, to figure all that out...
I don't think that sat shot is very recent,, is it coincidence that there is one like it there now?

If you go to google earth and zoom out a bit on Simpson bay,, the yacht anchored in the photo is in a very similar area that I have seen Rising Sun anchored... from what I gather it's probably not it,, so any guesses on who it is? Looks to be a good size compared to the yachts at Isle De Sol.
Either way,, I love the new Hi-Res google earth ,,,,,

The first (smaller) pic shows pretty clearly that the superstructure lines don't match up very well at all IMO.

I just went to Google Earth & checked out my marina. It seems the images are quite old. It shows bare docks with lots of snow & ice. Brrrrrrrrr!

also take look at Sardinia. In the marina in porto cervo you'll find Utopia, Princess mariana and Dilbar.

If you'll then ' fly' towards the bay just below the marina, you'll find Princess Mariana magically appeared there as well :)
(in the bay you can also see Mirabella V)

Then fly to mallorca to find Lady Moura in the marina.. (along with Al Mirqab, Salem and others..)

Rising Sun has a teak planked fore deck, this one doesn't. This was easy.

I have only been using the new version (Beta 4) so can't compare to prior version.

The new version is great - worth trying.
