Renaming yachts?

    I remember hearing many years ago, 25-30, that is was a bad omen to rename a boat, small or large. That certainly doesn’t seem to matter with the yachts I see trading hands today.

    Has anyone else every heard of this?

    It is an ancient superstition, may or maybot be valid. ;)

    Not seen much lately, but a larger yacht for sale might have it's name reserved, forcing the new owner to come up with something different.
    This in part, I believe, due to the rule for British-flagged vessels of no two having the same name.
