Is it possible to remove/replace the aft tank fuel level sender without having to cut an access hole in the cockpit floor? The sender on mine reads open so a replacement is in order.

Since I can track fuel burned at the helm from the engine computers I am considering a manual gauge that I can use to verify that the tank is filled when the computer calculated fuel quanity is added. The PO cut out the fuel sender wires under the helm and I havn't been able to locate the cut end.

    Thanks

How would you put the new one in?
Ok to bend/break the old one in order to get it out.
I would think it’s not a good idea to bend the new one in place ?
Assuming you are installing the same type you are removing. Some kind with some sort of float ?

There are a couple interesting styles. One uses a 180 degree swing gear drive pivot so the rigid part of the sender is much shorter than the 90 degree swing arm units. The other has the pivot at the gauge head so only the slender float wire needs to be fed into the opening. The gauge opening is at the side of the tank, not very far from the opening for the fish well when the inserts are out so can enter the tank with the rod at a very shallow angle once the float itself is through the opening.

    Ok .
I see . The various tanks I’ve had, the sender was on the top.
Float on a arm , which thinking about it, can be manipulated in place.
Or the ridged reed ? Type with the float riding up and down a shaft …
    Hmm.
    Hmmm.
Time to check in my better half …
    Good day sir.

Haha wish I'd known about some of these option before I drilled my 4" hole for installing a new KUS sender! Sealed it with 5200 and a stainless deck screw in plate for future access but still...
