    Advice please:
I am about to import a Hatterras to Australia and the Government requires information on the type of refrigerant gas, charge size, and amount in grams of refrigerant in each of the following units:
    2 CruiseAir AC Compressor 14000 BTU & 24000 BTU
    Copeland domestic fridge
    Copeland domestic freezer
    All models are year 2005
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks

If you have access to the boat you can get that information off the data plates. If you have the make and model numbers of the units you can get the information off the manufacturer's web site.

If you had a survey performed, that should list the details on the installed machinery so the make and model info should be there.

Some people might just select a make and model that looks like the ones in the photos of the boat and go to the manufacturer's web site and extract that info from the manuals.

Your question got me to wondering about the requirement to provide that information so I researched it for a bit. Is the information required to comply with the conditions described in this notice?

    http://www.environment.gov.au/atmosphere/ozone/licences/vehicle-import.html

Let me know how the process goes and how easy or miserable it turns out to be. It looks like it could be a real pain in the wallet.

Hi Marmot, Just been in touch with the Government agency. Not as bad as I thought, so far....about $400 to $500 unless you want to become an importer, then it goes to $3000 plus.
Actually, for a Government Department, they were VERY helpful. Will keep you informed. Thanks Mate!
