Is there any demand for a company to recycle old boats ? First I should ask, " can old yacht be recycled ?"
I have a friend/investor that think it may be a good investment... As the price of oil rises and there is an increase awareness of green or recycled materiel the demand will be increase. He is looking at locations on the east coast of the US.
Well, boats are not exactly revived as boats again, the recycling is more of environmental reasons and just some materials like aluminium and thermoplastics are used for new production, the remaining is hard to separate and becomes filler in different applications. Here is a PDF on the subject: http://www.icomia.com/environment/docs/ELB Absolutely Final June 30 2007.pdf
If you can figure out a way to recycle fiberglass, (rather than grinding it up to be used as filler for something else) you will have a corner on the market.
Back in the '50s & '60s, gags were all the rage...there were whoopie cushions, palm buzzers (shake hands, pal--bzzzzzt!), dribble glasses, and itching powder... which was made of fiberglass ground into a powder. Until somebody discovers polyester mites, we are likely stuck with that stuff forever.
